things are great! glad to see your still growin and sharin on the forums :D
yeah... just boring :wall: I love selection after the flowering stage but for the time being its just... leaves :|
Good to hear, hadn't seen any posts for a while, thought you may have gotten out of it. I'm continuing on, mostly breeding now and working on a few new strains coming up. Got one strain Blue Ripper going into BX2's and the BX1's looked pretty stable, found some very nice phenos to lock down, hoping that'll do it for that one. Lots more in the stable, takes time and a lot of patience but loving' it :)

I don't consider seedlings boring, I see is all the potential those babies! lol

DAY 15
Alright! well call this day 15-16 since these gals came above soil and I have removed all males/ weak growers (zero intersex plants so far), leaving 1 girl per pot. 14 females total and Ive saved some choice males (7) for possible selection down the line. Im excited to see what these F8 girls will look like! The 7 shrimpy ones in the back are from a really solid line that ive ran out of seed from and theyre a couple days younger.

Now ill label/tag them all and sendum into flower :D

So far these look to have the same vegatative traits as most B line (twilight pheno) individuals exhibit, hard edged crinkly leaves, upright overall growth pattern but I wont know till they start showing color.

Also.... I was planning to grow them in the typical 1 gallons to rush flowering and save space but... I may let them fill in these 1 gallons and go up to a 2 or 3 gallon..... well see.... maybe some CS stuff too..... maybe some outdoor stuff too.... oof

Im having trouble uploading images so... once I figure it out I will post them along with any other updates

Day 21
most have shown purple calyxs except for maybe 1, which is nice because its been in the 100s here lately.
Transplanted all remaining females into 3 gallon pots.
(will post pics as soon as issue is resolved)

Let's see, let's see! lol

RE: Pictures, it's been a problem for weeks. There's one way you can post on pretty well any OS or browser version. It's the only way I can and I tried several different browsers.

In RIU when you're logged in, select your handle on the menu bar, select Preferences from the drop-down options. Then select to turn off the "Use the Flash-based uploader to upload attachments". That should allow any browser to work. It's a pita because you can only upload one pic at a time, but it works :)

Alright here we are at DAY 22 all remaining females moved into 3 gallon pots to finish flowering and I will begin spraying the best 2 females with CS within the next 3 days in order to pollinate either this group or the next for some femenized F9 seeds.

only 1 of those F7 was a viable female, shes the smaller one up front (not the stunted runty ones)

the smaller ones to the outside were females that were paired with other females in the 1 gallons and so were a bit more stressed by the rough transplant

DAY 28
-I have selected 3 vigorous/colorful females and have begun spraying 1 lower branch of each with colloidal silver twice a day starting on (June 5th) I tied down the nearest fan leaf and marked each branch with a cable tie.

-Only 1 individual from the second group of females made it through initail sleection ( shes the sqaut indi dom up front)

-most if not all females appear to be sporting purple calyx already, and its hot as fuck lol.

-this group will be pollinated by one of my select males (growing outdoors atm) but the CS females will pollinate the following generation for fem seeds

Nice, do you just leave them with no training when hunting through them? I prefer to do that if I get the timing right and they don't get too large. I like to see their natural structure as one of the traits. Those look pretty uniform :)

exactly! :D I dont select for a particular vegetative structure but I feel Its important for me to know how selected individuals grow during this stage. Especially because It helps me track other traits and individual lines now that each line is getting more and more closely inbred/genetically unique.

yeah, hey btw are you noticing more sativa veg traits in the blue ripper BX than the F1?

thanks bro! :) these are relatively uniform except for the 4 outliers on the outside (they were in pots with bigger girls so they got basically ripped out [rough transplant] but seem to be recovered now, just slowed them a bit. and the 1 short indica dominant girl from the F7 stock of a different line.

some of these populations are ridiculously uniform already until you look at and smell the buds, they're all purple but they're are varying hues and shades of pink/ purple, resin coverage, density, aroma (to a lesser degree) its pretty interesting, wish I had a better camera to show you :/

Yeah I like to do that, this batch I have going got some super-cropping or they would have been out of control in height but the time I got them flipped. But most from seed I like to see how they do on their own.

They do a bit, the nicer phenos tend to lean towards sativa structures and growth patterns. Lost a bit of vigour but the one pheno I has nice vigour for a 3rd cross. Happens that it's fire and has the traits in smells, flavours, and potency

Like the colours when those babies get flowering. Have a really nice Columbian Gold pheno that's purple through and through. The colours didn't come through in any phenos yet but still have a bunch of F2's to go through, hoping to find one in there. Columbian Ripper with some purps would be nice :)

trichomes are staring to develop, buds are beginning to form and color up, girls are continuing to stretch and everyone is expressing there individual traits a lot more obviously at this point. Looks to be a very nice group of females, I will decide within the next few days here whether Ill be taking them outdoors or not to finish up.

yea, thats the cool thing about autos :P I can really control the speed of growth cuzz the finite lifecycle :D

really? so youve actually noticed a reduction in vigor with 1 backcross? thats interesting man.

are you planning to backcross to the BD one more time?

oh nice! when are you running those??? would be very interested to check those out. fack yea man purpe makes everything nice lol

DAY 37

20180613_081958.jpg 20180613_082054.jpg
My 3 CS treated females are all forming up nice male parts, I have identified the best 3 females out of the group and will pollinate the lot within the next week or so for F9 regs and use the Fem pollen from my best female to pollinate the next round of Pinkies for some F9 feminized seeds to work with in 2019

100% of the plant this generation (including males) have displayed purple buds.

Well technically I'm calling them BX1's but it's actually the 3rd cross and second back-cross, just a different male on the second back-cross.

No BD male available to back-cross to. But I have some options like the original F1's, F2's if needed.

Columbian Ripper's will be a bit. I'm doing one clone run to get me through summer when I'm done the current run of this Dream Ripper. Too busy socially through summer to be doing any hunts, they're a lot of work! Will run some more in fall and get back to the breeding stuff in the fall.

Your babies are growing up and looking good!

okay, gotcha. tomatoe tomato haha

oh yeah I just saw you post those little ones, I totally understand man if I didnt have my outdoor crop to get me through the year id have to do a lot less pheno hunting myself lol. you only have access to indoor growing space? damn gotta say... im kinda dissapointed tbh... haha I was really juiced about those purple columbian rippers!!!:cuss: oh well , c'est la vie :bigjoint: just gotta be patient IG.:wall:

thanks bro, likewise! theyve finally stopped stretching and started putting on bud weight so Ill take some better quality pics to show off the purple flowers pretty soon here. bongsmilie

Yeah just going to run clones in 5gal pots next, they give me an extra day between waterings. Summer is too busy for me so haven't planted anything outdoor this year, plus I'm busy as f work-wise as well and traveling. Only leaves me time to do some indoor but back off on the breeding side. Breeding takes a lot of work tracking, inspecting, pictures, documentation. I love doing it but summer is short and we tend to go away for a night or two regularly.

Lol, will be working on that purple ripper line, just takes space and time, gotta balance out the gardening with some sun, friends, and smoking the wares bongsmilie

20180621_102909.jpg 20180621_102918.jpg
I seperated out the lowest yielding/least resinous 4 individuals and have since taken them out into my shade house out back to harden off and finish growing outdoors, all plants are purple :D

I also spaced these out a little better and cleaned up some of the yellowing leaves at the very bottom of each plant.

I got really lucky and I think 1 of the 3 I femenized will be the best out of the group and the other 2 are pretty nice as well.

My 2 males left selected for resin and color out of the 7 most vigorous males I started with, are coming inside today to go into a box with a cfl for a few days till I get enough pollen to hit all my indoor girls with for my F9 Pinkiesaliensmileopink.png

Bad news eep.png

My dogs ate my 2 selected F8 males.... sucks because they had just started dropping pollen after they got attacked the first time and both were vigorous, dark maroonish purple and had nice trichome development.

welp.... gotta roll with the punches! I always have a contingency plan, I will be using a select F8 male from my sister line to pollinate these gals instead, he had an encounter with the dogs as well and is on his way to healing back up 100% but hes a nice vigorus male with deep black/purple balls and larger than average pollen sacks. The line he comes from produces exceptionally dark and resinous individuals Just a different hue of purple so I am confident his genes will make an excellent contribution to this line.

my select males were still able to pollinate all my outdoor plants before they were massacred so they will still be making a contribution to the next generation of F7/F8 beans I harvest off those F6 moms.

ideally I would like to isolate each individual shade of purple (including the different stigma colors [red, blood red, purple, hot pink, pink]) and form seperate and distinct lineages of each but that wont be for another few generations and I like all the varieties of purple sooo.... :D

Set this up for him in my guest room this morning, hes already starting to open up and drop pollen for me :D that was the main thin I was worried about was not pollinating in time.20180622_073745.jpg
