Mephisto strawberry nuggets not growing vertical..

I’m on week 3 from seed first breaking ground of a Mephisto strawberry nuggets Auto Flower. Under a mars hydro 300w in ffof with added perlite and dolomite lime. Just gave it its first small dose of fox farm grow big and big bloom.

The plant is only 5-6 inches tall and it’s already on its 6th node. They are RIGHT on top of each other. None of the undergrowth is getting any light so I added 1 T5 24 watt on the side to get some light to the side shots.

Preflowers just started like 3 days ago so I’m hoping it will start to stretch soon. Do autoflower double in size in early bloom like photos?

Any ideas on when the plant might get taller? Anyone grown this strain before? Any tips?

I forgot to add the plant is very healthy and hasn’t had any problems up to this point that’s why I’m kind of surprised it’s so short. If been tucking some of the leaves to get some light to the inside that’s why some of the leaves look like they are droopy. The plant is ‘praying’ toward the light at all times.

Soon as you see pistils they will stretch 2-4 times it's height when finished. I've had some auto's that looked like duds but grew into large beautiful girls.

Man that is good to hear. I’ve heard this strain was really good. I’ve had great luck with Mephisto but never had an auto this short after 3 1/2 weeks.

You didn't read the description that well. She is bread from the 24 Carot(85% indica) and Kush, another indica. She grows wider than taller and is a 60-90 gram yeilder. She will not get that tall no matter what you do light/nute/training wise. Shes just squat and wide bushy plant. She seems to be killer smoke from the reports I've seen.

I did read that part i just thought she might be bigger than 5 inches by the 4th week lol. It’s ok I’ve been leaf tucking a little and I have a few of the side shoots almost ready to come out. She just put out her first pistil so I think a growth spurt is about to happen.

Leaf tucking has been a common in all the grows ive seen. I didn't mean to be rude, she's just not a huge plant. If you go to AFN(autoflowernetwork) and the Mephisto section, you can see some good journals and what to expect for a final plant give or take as no 2 will be identical.

True most of those guys are growing in DWC and end up with 4 foot monsters lol. But I did see some nice soil runs over there too. I just sprouted 2 SODK so I should have the bigger plant I’m looking for shortly

I was VERY intrested in thise SODK, but they were out of stock. I did however get the 420 strain Orange Diesel(SODK x Orange sativa) so I'll be on the lookout for those.

The SODK came as a freebie I was pretty happy. I ordered 2 strawberry nuggets and 2 sour livers and received 4 strawberry nuggets, 4 sour livers and 4 SODK..paid for 4 seeds and received 12 lol...ordering directly from Mephisto is the way to go.

led's tend to make plants shorter .... the new white cobs not so much but the blurples make some squatty plants

They usually bush out nice and then grow up at the beginning of flower. I’ve now harvested about 30 plants under 2 mars hydro 300s. I understand it’s limitations and people say it’s not the greatest light but I have had pretty good success with them.

I used to run 600 watt hps but I moved to a different apartment and my new grow area can’t handle the heat. Grabbed the mars on sale to get my feet wet with led and have been pretty satisfied with the results.

You're thinking taller is better, but not necessarily so and especially not indoors, I have a 5'6" Gorilla Glue in a 6'6" tent right now, but it's only this tall because I ignored them in veg (I'm taking responsibility Jim)

So now my lights been pinned to the ceiling for months and everything else has to go up on crates and boxes to get near it, and if I want to get into the back how many crates do I have to move, besides moving the plants too? ..not that great having tall plants and they don't yield much if any more than shorter plants either, many shorter plants trained and bushed out will yield more than my wild lanky expressions, believe it!

short bushy plants are the way to go my friend, just like you're doing, forget about tall!

There’s a thin line somewhere there. I don’t want my plants to stretch. But you need SOME height to get a good yield. I was concerned because my plant was only 4 inches tall when it reached it’s 3rd week and already on its 6th node. There was NO spacing between nodes at all it was crazy. It’s started to grow in the last week and the side shoots have come out of the Forrest from leaf tucking and side lighting T5. Before there was ZERO light getting anywhere but the top of the plant.

Yeah been trying to hold them back w/ low light low feed what-have-you so they stretched, so I take cuttings, (and I'm going to take some more Jim!)

That lanky girl is now four plants, give or take plus the original will be ready to Top Again probably already is

This is how I keep a cutting it's kind of like running a mother plant only backwards I guess maybe not, I don't know but that's how I do it, I can take more Cuts today and Float them in my bubble cloner for a month before I have to think about where to put them ?

First 2 even 3 weeks plants are growing Roots it's a good sign they stay short, let it go you'll like it it'll be fine looks like you're doing a good job plus somebody said up top that your strain is supposed to be short?
