lec is the sunsystem trademarked name for cmhIs LEC the same as plasma...? I probably read about it at some point but have the memory of a goldfish after the accident.
I think the question is whether the amount of UV inherent in CMH will actually make any noticable difference to potency. There's still a dearth of data on that subject, as far as I know.thats natural sunlight. were talking grow lights cmh has much much more than hps, blurple leds. some cob can have more depending on the chips used. for that mater cobs can also have far red flower initiators to. wish i was wireing savy i could build my own.
Thanks for being honest. People's egos often drive them to make outlandish anecdotal claims. As we continue moving towards legalization across the globe, we're going to have the opportunity to conduct many more side by side studies with single variables. Until then, honest anecdotal statements are valuable when there is a dearth of evidence.i cant answer that all i can say is my stuff is better than it was when i used leds but my skill is better so wether it was the cmh spectrum or just better talent? i can say that i get sunburnt if im in the garden longer that 30 min ( i have a bald mellon lol)
And yet the quality of my crops improved when I went to LED from those very same lamps. Thanks for being honest. People's egos often drive them to make outlandish anecdotal claims. Great. No doubt there are confounding factors for each grower, that's why this anecdotal evidence is important. I'm on the LED train but I have an LEC lamp that I will use until it's worn out (probably a couple years). I'll be supplementing that lamp with LEDs to fill my tent. And yet the quality of my crops improved when I went to LED from those very same lamps.
Go figure.
No, thats why its essentially useless. Because its simply too often contradictory. Evidence that contradicts itself is useless as such.that's why this anecdotal evidence is important.
That's why people need to just drop the "this light source is best" bs that goes around the led forum so much. No, thats why its essentially useless. Because its simply too often contradictory. Evidence that contradicts itself is useless as such.
If one is only capable of following prescriptive guidelines, I agree. I'm not interested in the LED/COB/LEC/HPS debate per se, I'm capable of drawing my own conclusions. I enjoy seeing the quality products various posters are able to produce with their set-up. I can take that into account while we wait for more papers to be published on a number of things: soil science, lighting technology, etc.No, thats why its essentially useless. One of the things that made the biggest difference for me was a bit of epsom salt in the nutrient mix. It didn't matter what the light source was, that was a helpful change. If one is only capable of following prescriptive guidelines, I agree. People act like pre-1900, we were incapable of recognizing patterns that affected our world.
I'm guessing you haven't had reason to digest large amounts of academic work but let me tell you, the majority is contradictory. Whether it's poor experimental design, bias or unexpected variables, there is a huge amount of data that rests on contradictory claims. When we lack controlled studies that block for all the additional variables, we move to the cutting edge fully aware there is a price to be paid for the adventure: time, money, crop, anxiety, etc.
I believe the majority of growers are looking for the magical element for "the best" cannabis cultivation. I don't believe such a thing exists, I want to see people's results and attempt to fine tune my system for a continually better product. Nothing more, nothing less.
From the White Papers I've read from Philips, dimming not only shifts the spectrum output but also hurts efficiency.wow thats quite the shift in spectrum
what does dimming do to the efficiency?
