Thanks man, Yeah they're hard..at first it was open and oozed some sort of sap (the big black dot on top)...i'm thinkin it was stressed some way

Ahh true true that's pretty cool...I'm thinking it was me that caused it..I kept pressing down on the top of the cactus during rooting so it would be anchored in good...never punctured it tho..i also put it under an HLG Quantum board for an hour or so maybe it's light burn?

it's possible, but i would expect a cactus to be able to take some pretty intense light without burning

The quickest way to turn that cutting into a larger amount of cactus is to simply place it on its side....It will grow pups that will grow way faster than the cutting would on it's smaller root.

I remember reading up on that, pretty damn cool. I’m gonna let her grow out another foot and then start propagating for new pups since she already rooted. I’m hoping she pups naturally without any propagation as I heard it’s possible. Just trying to get my feet wet with cacti

Yeah I figured :( I saw ‘trichocereus’ and got excited for a minute. Either way it’s a cool addition to the bridgesii, i’m Gonna slowly become addicted to collecting cacti...next is San Pedro or Peruvian torch :D

Sometimes if I want lots of new cacti, I just cut it in wedges about 3 spines high and let each of those root...
But same as rooting a cutting from the bottom tip, the pups grow slow compared to growing from a knocked-on-its-side stump.

It is a drastic difference... I have some cacti done with the log on its side way, that are higher than my roof almost, they are just as old as some 3-foot ones, done the traditional way.

So I got some foot trich peruvianus 'peruvian torch'cuttings coming in :D to compliment the bridgesii ..gonna root some as is and cut one in two 6" pieces to try that @ANC log meth0d..will keep u guys updated with pics :)

Quick question: my cuttings arrived wayy before the estimated arrival date, the thing is i'm away till sunday. My mail is held till saturday so it's safe and sound in the box at the post office. it'll be outside from sat-sun..it's not supposed to rain ..this is fine right?

You can root them on some sand in a tub indoors... No watering needed until you can't lift them up anymore.... I.e. they have roots.

Okay so my bridgesii has been rooting since 5-24 ..I see two new spines coming in and the aeroles are getting hairy, the top is starting to turn a bluish green color so i suppose it has succesfully been rooted? I still haven't watered yet. I decided I want to grow it outdoors this summer so I started to 'harden off' the cactus slowly about a week ago. (Avg temps 85-90 RH ~60-75%) does that high of a humidity matter? (Only reason i haven't watered). I have some black spots on the cactus but they scab up/are hard and not squishy so i suppose it's just stress.

Anyway here's some peruvianus cuttings to add to the collection. What do you guys think? Legit peruvianus? Or pachanoi?
One of them doesn't look like the other (more ribs, skinnier, less rounded ribs,) so it has me a little worried

it's hard to tell, there are a lot of varieties of peruvianus, but they don't look like the same variety to me. the one could be a younger cutting, but i don't think so.
