Stem rot ?

So my buddy's got some plants that I set him up with as seedlings but is now having this happen to most of his plants if you guys need more photos for a diagnosis im sure he'll send me more i feel bad like its my fault even though mine are showing no signs of this help me save my buddies plants

Well im not there at his place and from the pic I can tell somethings not rite as for a description the guys in his 60s and never grown weed so he's not gunna be great about giving me one I can ask and post again but doubt it will be much help aside from that plants are a little over watered soil hes in is not great they are drooping slightly and its been in the 90s the last week so id say the drooping is heat stress but as for the stem issue im not sure but thanks for your helpfull comment

How old is it?

Stems can do that as they harden with age, and older leaves down low where there is lower light can die off.

So we need to know how old, and pics of the whole plant would be better

Phythium. Crown/stem rot. Very serious problem. Only thing that's ever helped it for me, was switching to coco and loading up on enzymes and bb. Tried everything to beat it n hydro had zero luck. Lost a full run. Spreads like wildfire. Once established very hard to cure. Usually will lose plants around week 6 of bloom. Try recharge, mammoth p maybe. Load up on the beneficial bacteria. Haven't seen it since switching to coco w organic amendments. I took sick plants in rockwool blocks buried them in coco shit went away in about a week never to return. I'm scared shitless of the crown rot. Best wishes... Over watering/keeping soil damp is generally the culprit. Let your pots dry maybe try watering from the bottom if possible

Watering from the bottom? Been there, you're guaranteed root rot as I found out to my cost.

Pretty sure mykos destroy this demon.. load up on the myko/Bennie's, watch that shit go bye bye. Chemicals do nada but make it hungry

If its outdoor, i dont know about heat stress.. 117 yesterday where i am and my girls loved it. Just extra water.

Not guaranteed root rot. Funny thing bout crown rot, plant seems to be just fine as do the roots.. but the plants will just fall over one day n that's a wrap. Root balls pure white n nice veg growth up top. Strange disease. Fuck I hate that shit lol. I'll shut up now. Gluck!!

As I say, been there and killed a plant 2 weeks before harvest as the rot slowly set in. Never making that mistake again.

I had a rabbit attack and skin a lower stem. Stunted growth for several weeks. Not sure thats what your bud has though

Hey, I had that greenhouse once.

I've never seen damage like that. Tell him to quit watering the stem.

Could b from jacking the stems to hard. Too much rub n tug perhaps . Try a lubricant like ky jelly or the likes.
All jokes aside, the spores can go airborne n spread to neighbor plants. I'd remove it from said gardenia. Get it the food outta there. Get some mykos n bb's. Or get a box of tissues cause you'll b sad

Is it PEELING?
the base of a plant will often get a "skin" that vaguely peels up, but it's just the plant first developing woodiness.
This is not that.
Your skin looks like it's dissolving.

Let that shit dry out hard.

look close maybe something chewing? I have had mice and field rats do what looks like whats happening

Ive been telling him hes over watering and the soil hes using holds water like a sponge ill tell him to dry them out.
Now last year i had gray mold on a stem and I washed the spot with rubbing alcohol and burnt that spot on the stem with a torch and never saw it again any chance this could work for him or do you think it might be root rot ive got some h2o2 he could drench the soil with and then set him up with some mykos tea and try to build up microbes again?

First thing I would do is raise the pot so there's a gap under it and hope it can drain out as it's possible the bottom of the pot is sludge blocking any drain holes. Then it's pray she recovers.
