Wow, you poor guy. Everyones 2 cents worth is probably confusing the hell out of you. Here's my 2 cents worth too. I hope I can help.
Use cheap ass soil. I prefer it because I don't have to worry about when nutes run out. And use perlite or something to fluff your soil, it needs to breath.
All I use is MG (oh no! not MG! yes MG) for tomatoes. Not near what they recomend for dosage. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 and not for all waterings, maybe once 2-3 weeks. I don't have a watering schedual. I feel my soil. Stick your finger in, how does it feel? You can water again tomorrow if they are DRY, don't soak them. Your going for moist. If you have well water, your good. Other wise you need to let the chlorine evaporate before you give it to your plants (sitting out in an open container, cooking pots work great)
I use plant and aquarium florescent tubes. I prefer the correct light spectrum, they seem to grow healthier.
And yes, my fan blows right on my plants. On low and oscilating, but directly into them.
As they bloom, you may need to go get some blooming nutes from a garden center. I use liquid organic, and again, do not mix full strength. And be patient. Sometimes it takes time to see the results from fixing nute problems.
I hope I helped. But keep in mind, everyone has their own way and people strongly disagree about somethings. My #1 advice to you, don't over-do anything. Maybe starting your seedlings in peat pucks might help you. Get a good strong base and than go for soil. Those Jiffy starters at the store aren't real expensive, and it comes with a make shift 'humidty dome'.
