Molasses or no Molasses? You tell me

I use the Liquid Karma almost every time I fertilize. Stuff is amazing from clone thru flower...
Haven't used Botanicare other than the Clearex and Hydroguard. Both of those are great and pretty cheap. The hydoguard saved me from high res temps this summer.

When it comes to pots the bigger the better; get the biggest ones that you can fit in your area. It gives the roots more room to grow and will mean you'll have to water less. I personally like the plant-spa type with the overrun tray built into the bottom. Got em at wallyworld...

Interesting....
I have an ebb/flood hydro system and have been using Clearex on the second to last week, then clear RO on the final week. Clearex's main ingredients are sucrose and glucose A.K.A. sugar. I have purchased a bottle of Plantation black strap molasses and plan to use it in place of the Clearex. Looks like I'll need to add an air bubbler the tank.

I have ebb n flow...tried molasses....major gunk in my tank in only a few days: Gunk Heaven, even with an airstone...only 70 litres...put it down to mixing molasses sugar with warm water prior to putting it into my tank....im sure that is the peroblem, got a brew started with the warm water....still using in a couple of buckets but not in my hydro, but cleaned my tank beer up quick.mow using ripen.. i might manually feed some molasses(maybe even a small blob for slow release) cos convinced they liked the molasses. it will prob stay in the rootmat until i chop anyway thus causing no future tank problems..hopefully!!!!

My most important thing that I have learned is not to experiment or fiddle around with more than one thing at a time. This way you are only changing one thing in the envoirnment and can clearly (if you are lucky) see if it has been a positive or negative change.

I have been reading about molasses for a year now on RIU. A thread seems to pop up every 3-4 weeks or so. I have been growing & cloning the same strain for 6 grows now. I finally got the hang of cloning and now I have a perpetual grow with a harvest every 2 weeks. I am growing in soil using 400 watt HPS. I use and love General Hydrroponics Flora-Nova during flowering. I decided that when I started the perpetual grow I would start introducing molasses as soon as the plant showed sex in the flowering phase. Yesterday my first set of plants reached 6 weeks. Having been using the same strain all along I know how it behaves. I know what it likes and have everything else dialed in - Lighting, Nutes, CO2, Humidity, PH, Temps, Fresh Air, and Carbon Scrubber.

The difference in using the Molasses didn't seem very noticeable until about 4 weeks into flowering. I noticed that the buds started swelling sooner and they are getting huge. The strain I am growing is an Indica dominant Sativa cross. I doesn't grow real tall but it packs on good buds on the top 2/3 of the plant. For my $3.23 investment in a jar of molasses I am very satisfied. The proof will be in the end product. I expect the next 2 weeks to be very exciting. Started flushing last night and am still adding 1 tbsp per gallon of water.

my ebb n flowers are loving a spash of molasses at night. reducing the number of floods cos having a cull tomorrow.

the 2 in pots not watering for a couple of days but does anyone know if a year old mother would take significantly longer to flower??? russian, 58 days...cramped for space not helping...by culling some ebb n flow can get more space for her to do her stuff...

id say no molasses but if your going to use it i would use brown sugar the molasses is already broken down for your plants

I did use it in my last grow but i had never grown this strain before.... I thought they did swell like 3 or 4 days after adding..maybe a week.. but by then i was always giving it to the ladies...I did get caterpillars in my plants.. and i am only mentioning this cause of that one guy saying it would happen.. it did happen to me.. that it was the molasses or not i dont know.. but it had never happen to me prior?...something to think about....

Well if you use Molasses it's possible that you'll get a moldy surface on the soil. When I tried it I had to cut the plants down earlier than I wanted. But I used 1tablespoon/gallon instead of teaspoon listening to someone on here.

Very good advice!!!

I tried some brown sugar on my plant, and the buds swelled huge....I think it helps out during the late flowering stage....it helped my plant, but it's really just your choice.....

the botanicare line is great.. the micro-herd loves it and so do the plants. if you start with good genetics ...you can't go wrong with pro blend cal mag, liquid karma and carbs of your choice. I have also used bio-bizz, an, and bloom nutes. i keep returning to botanicare, save for a few xtras to experiment with ie. Snow Storm Ultra, Molasses,Gravity, etc.
