Growing 3 plants worth it?

I'd have to say no, growing three plants isn't worth the hassle.

You will need money for starters.
Cost for personal set ups range.
CFL lights, any potting soil and any food is about the cheapest you can go. On the high end, we have bulds that cost $300 each. So the cost can go pretty high. The amount of time needed is nothing short of three monthsutside of a clone set up(more lights,set up=more money needed)
While these three month go by, you are in need of smoke, so you buy it from your guy.After havest you still have to play the waiting game, so either you started smoking your havest way to early or again you called your guy.Lets say you get 2oz dried from three plants.Is that enough smoke intill your next grow?Not even close as you will find out.So you will find yourself in a cycle of still calling your guy because you ran out of smoke.You did take the dealer out of your pocket for 2 months, and thats a good thing...but not a great thing, and kind of not the point in growing your own. I'd say no less then seven plants per grow is worth the hassle.
Yea, it's kool at the start, even the first few grows...then it quickly becomes work, alot of work ...and money.

Growing under your bed or hiding them in a tiny closet/inclosed book shelf? Growing isn't for you, don't wast your money and time.

Interesting angle... Sounds like a good dose of truth, but depends on each person, their use, their resolve, and interest. In most hobbies, you have lots of people that think it's the best thing since sliced bread, until they get neck deep, and find out how much work, time, money, and how unrealistic their expectations are... Well if this is your first grow then yes go ahead and begin, almost everybody does terrible on their first grow so no matter how man you start with, you'll be lucky to harvest one plant. If you treat them good you can pull 9 oz off three plants.

The grow op will pay for itself within a year, without question.

Growing cannabis has been wonderful for me.
I only wish I started years ago!
I hate the rat race to chase down some smoke.
My rat race these days are tracking down different seeds.
No more scaling back or rationing weed.
Easy way to pick up $50-$100 here and there with friends inneed.
I was also able to fund a nice set up and had an extra bed room.
Without either I wouldn't be able to do so...

I started with 2 bag seeds, one 1gal pot and old soil from a dead house plant and I was using 2 100watt house lights...yea, we all start somewhere.

i am growing because i want to see if i can get the concept of growing and perfecting it, sounds like somthing cool todo..

what if the grower doesnt constantly get hi and smoke, just every now and then to have fun and relax.. myself i dont do it at all really like once every 3 months or so, so i figure instead of buying, just have a good house plant i can keep and have a constant crop if needed, and i can sell to friends who smoke everyday

just kinda how i go about it, i mean once u get high yields the $ goes up prettyyyy goooood

so im taking it as a side thing take a bit from crop, and sell the rest

I agree with the last poster. I don't smoke often, haven't smoked in about 20 days right now, but when I do have time to sit back and relax there's nothing better. It's also nice not to deal with the shady and dangerous culture of most dealers. Even if they aren't shady, it's a pain in the ass to wait all day for someone to get in touch with whoever they gotta call.

I'm growing three plants myself, and I'm loving every day of it. I'm about a week from going in to flower on my first grow. I've got 4 plants but they aren't sexed yet, and expect to have 2 once I've sexed them. Then I'll clone those ladies and throw the clones in my newly built veg box and just have a few little plants rotating for my own consumption. I've put around $400 into it so far but a few solid ounces will easily pay for that. Plus on grow #2 I won't have any equiptment to buy since I got all quality stuff the first time, so the next harvest will be mostly 'profit' so to speak (even though it's all for me!!!)

in my brutal experience, it is better to grow even just one plant very well than to grow 6 very shitty.... if you know what you are doing, a few plants can yield very well.... i think alot of growers that dont really have the process down yet make the mistake of trying to go too big on their first grows, and end up screwing themselves in the process..i was one of them... the last grow, i slowed down and only harvested two plants, but the difference in quality was well worth it.

so your yield was roughly, 19g/plant. On a first time cfl grow, that's not horrible. How many watts did you use? Did you lst or scrog? Is your strain a proven indoor yielder? What were the environmental conditions that could have improved?

A lb. or more can come from three plants under proper training, and adequate light. Three harvests per year with one room. Is 1500g enough per year for your lungs? Now even if you don't reach ideals, I'm sure you can see where this certainly can be done and keep you $$ out of dopeman's pocket.

Im recently retired and pretty much do it as a hobby. Also didnt like paying 150 for a oz of shit. This is my 4th grow...4 ladies in their 7th week of flower. Regarding my first grow...Im still in therapy and choose not to discuss it.

im on my 4th grow as well. so far, i've invested about a grand more or less, and i have about 3/4 lb curing or cured. i've noticed that with each grow my costs go down and my yeild goes up!!

I don't think I agree with who started this thread, growing any pot is worth it. Right now I'm just finishing up my first grow. I tried to prepare myself and do a lot of reading before I started. I ran into some problems, of course, but I worked through them and now I expect to yield roughly an ounce and a half off of two very small plants(about 18 inches). I have spent right around $100 so far (I know, pretty fucking amazing), and I could not be happier with my investment. Its also true that once you have all of the necessary equipment, the following grows come at a fraction of the cost, thats the plan anyway...

Personally i like growing, just to grow mann. It dosent really matter to me how much i get, itz how good my shit is. I could grow just one plant and be perfectly happy with that as long as my shit turns out good. Basically i like growing just to have some good weed, even if i only have it for one day.

I'm only growing 2 - there again I feel I've got enough to last till next harvest coz I don't smoke a lot...

I'm gonna try cloning in another month or 2 to experiment - I agree with what people say when they say it costs quite a lot to start out

So far I have:

5 Paradise Rox seeds feminised - £30
10 Nirvana K2 seeds reguar - £10

Baby Bio plant food - £3
Compost - £3
Vitalink Buddy - £4

Grow Light - £40

thats £130 to start with and I've not bought any cloning gear...but for a personal grow its ok, I'm not going mad with it - just need some more compost and possibly more nutes thats what...£15-20?

Its costly but if you get enough to save you money on weed from dealers then its worth it - say you spent 150 on gear that'll get you enough to at least last til next harvest, how much would it be to buy the weed grown for that period? After 2-3 grows you got savings coz your only forking out for soil which you can get VERY cheaply...

Doubt it! (not everyone lives in cail and can grow outside)

It cost me $50 a month to grow. the cost would be the same for 1 plant or 10 plants.
For me, one plant is almost worstless to grow, three plants only makes a dent and 7+ plants put me into a nice position.

A small set up, cost lets say $500 and to run your set up lets say $50 a month.
....and you don't smoke alot.(unlike myself)
You have spent around $650 and you are three month in and about ready to harvest your three plants...(you still havent smoked yet)
I can get an oz of kind buds for $300. So if your really no smoker, just how long would 2 ozs last you? pretty long time I'm gussing.

If I was a lite smoker, I wouldnt be growing. Its not worth the risk or the money needed. I would just buy a bag as I go. smoke 2 joints a month, one fuckin 8th would last me 3 months.

If it's about enjoyment, that's another story but my answer is the same. I'm 100% sure I wouldnt grow cannabis just to grow cannabis...again not worth the risk or money.
