Soooooo,, back on topic... should I chop off all those branches over hanging the pot at the bottom? Even if I put lights down there? (And maybe even an aircon lol).. Shit my daily power bill is gonna be HUGE!!

Wouldn't worry bout lights down there chick
If u ain't in flower trim 4 or 5 of those lower branches right of at the stalk see if u can practice taking cuttings of them and practice cloning got nothing to lose

With trimming the bushes down stairs( just around the balls and gooch), do you think that since the plant has less buds that it makes the ones at the top bigger and better ? With my last few plants I didn't bother trimming the lower leaves because yeah they had little buds down there and they were rubbish but still better than having no buds down there.. OR does the benefit of focusing the energy in to the top buds outway having any small buds..

It's highly likely that they would redirect their energy into those upper buds more. Due to not having to grow all that extra stuff.

After all. Those smaller satellite buds are mainly there to catch the odd bit of pollen that might have floated past a main cola. Think of it like another chance to make seed.

Except in our case. You want more of the bigger buds. Not that larfy sattelite stuff.

Me personally it's hard to say all I know is at the end I don't think I lose fuck all weight taking a few of the lower branches off.
I do think it's more beneficial in fighting bugs n pests etc when you can get underneath the canopy without lowers getting in the way once again though I top and scrog mine ..I fiud take more off the bottoms than I have done before for last summer's shark breath and got some huge buds but that's the first time I've done thast strain so it could be the norm for that strain

I agree with nugs here less energy down below means the plant uptakes quicker to the tops

Cheers I'll give these guys a clean up down stairs as they get older and see how it goes,
Don't leave it to late though otherwise it's already used a lot of energy in the lowers that your going to cut off so it's wasted energy you know what I mean ?
I'm not sure what the optimum window is to do it but I would think just before stretch starts at the latest my 2cents

lowers tend to root a bit easier than a top so its a win-win if you clean out the bottom and get a few clones out of it plus if one doesnt take you have backups

And as for training there is an art to indoor imo.

No side branches. As in keep all your tops even and take the tops out to divide branches in 2 dont let any of the lower growth grow up. Tip every lower shoot you see as you go.

Basically manifolding i think they call it.
When your flip to 12/12 take out every node below the top 3. Once you see the nodes beginning to stack let them go.

Fan leaves are good. They help your plant breathe and act as buffers in case of a mobile nutrient deficiency. This is why i leave all my lower leaves on and just take the new growth shoots out. Then instead of defoling underneath the plant defol around the buds to let the light into the buds. Any stray light will also be caught by the big lower fans. Think like a satelite dish with the antenna in the middle beong the buds and the big lower fans acting like the dish.

This is my method i have been working for ages. Results in larger colas, no larf so easier trimming and less wasted time and energy
