First post, rookie question.

Hey guys.

This is my first post, and first grow in 20 years. Back in the day I would clone a lot and don’t my recall having ever seen this.

These were taking off a GG4 that’s been outdoors since end of May. The mother is quite healthy and massive due to multiple tops taken and fims done throughout the summer.

The clones took 3 weeks to root due to not having a heat pad the first two weeks. Thought the light would help for heat. A 24w cfl.

As you can see from the pics the tops yellowed some worse than others.

With all the new techs and nutes available these days if feel like a total rookie. Even though I aceled at this years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mastrmasn,
Welcome to the forum. I'm just getting back into it after years too. Yes, the heat pad will help. Did you use clonex or something like that?

On your existing clones. They must be getting there...pretty close. Maybe time to start some really mild nutes. Also you can foliar feed them to help get them through while growing roots.

Thanks for the reply JD. The folliar spray is what? My regular nute mix light?

If it's a chemical nutrient...yes. And like Bernie said...some Mg deficiency too. So if your nutrients have little Mg, you can add in a little epsom salts.

I'm just not sure on organic ff.

I’ve got a bottle of cal mag. Read that it would be needed with coco. These plants have yet to get any nutes. Just PH adjusted water.

Things really have gotten complicated in 20 years lol

No lie...my man. But part of it is you chose a more difficult path. Soil may have been easier for your first grow back. But look at my first post. I suggested feeding it...so get to it, lol

why? So basically you starved your plant and every time you watered it it was like you flushed it out.
your plant is mag deficient, probably everything else too since you decided not to feed it.
better get some microbes while your at it.

If you're growing in coco then you want to feed nutrients as soon as you see roots. Also, with coco you'll want to feed every watering. You can skip nutrients once in a while during a watering to leach out salts, but yeah, nutrients every watering in coco.

What has worked well for me in coco is to feed at a 1.2 - 1.3 EC during veg, and 1.4 - 1.6 EC during flower.

If you're an old school grower that only grew in dirt, then you'll need to get acclimated to a few things when growing in coco. Coco is inert so treat it like hydroponics.

Or go buy a bag of fox farms ocean forest..and sit back and watch it take off and look like a pro. Keep top dressing it as the soil packs down. Learn sum shit about nutrients in the next 6 wks or when you rdy to flower.

What I may have failed to mention is that the discolouration started in the cloning dome prior to roots. With past experience we never fed clones and waited at least a few days after transplant.

where you should of been feeding them about 200-300 ppms of veg nutes

This video plenty of others out there I found out you dont want to dip the cut in the vitagrow for more than about 12-15 seconds and then dip in clean water real quick for a rinse then place. the vita grow burnt up a few sets leaving it in the solution for too long.

your best cuts will come from a healthy mother plant.

did you have the light too close in the cloner? try t8 or t12 instead of cfl

Thanks again to you JD and everyone else who replied. After feeding last night (coco and foliar) she seems to be turning green again.

Nice rapid response. Foliar feeding is good for emergencies but should be reserved for that.

Since you are a coco newbie...why not tell us how you plan on feeding and watering...so that the coco experts can make sure you're on track...
