This is truth....I am a well know member because I post a lot. MANY have a lot more experience and most of what I have posted were questions about growing and pictures. But I have had a lot of stuff screw right up and that is how you learn what not to doThe reason that folks plants flower too early is a timing issue. If you are going to use natural light, you must harden plants off for it. Light timing is a critical issue. Yes, most of us use more hours of artificial light than what is happening outdoors when we are sprouting. The key is to get them used to outdoor slowly, gradually, while weaning them off the artificial light. Seedlings will not tolerate direct sun for much time at all. I set them in the shade for a few hours at first building up slowly till they are ready for direct sun. The sun is superior to any artificial source and your plant will grow to prefer it quickly, but not suddenly. You don't eat ice cream before beans do you. Then you won't eat your beans and your health suffers for it. It's all natural. My plants stay out permanently full time after five sets of leaves are formed. Please do not confuse newcomers. Jay, plants don't flower till they sense the lessening of sun hours, making them think fall is coming. Early flower will weaken a plant. It may "reflower" but it will be seriously compromised. I never would have bought that plant. And it's just that ONE? Noob is right, that thing is not worth further effort. I'd get myself some autoflowers and start over if you want some harvest this season. Read these pages with a critical ear. Check for collaboration from other threads and especially don't accept sweeping generalities, especially from new growers. Check the likes history of members and check twice before making a decision. And ask your search engine looking for answers from educated pros, horticulturists, and University professors of agriculture. Ask your horticulture supply pros, I've found most big gardening stores have an employee who is a pot grower. After you establish yourself as someone who has purchased their regularly, I've found that "go to guy" starts to trust YOU and will give you advice that is not "store driven". Most of us are guessing, it's just that some of us have more experience and have learned from our mistakes like following a newbies suggestion verbatim.
Also remember a "well known" member is just one that posts a lot. It is not a measure of their knowledge. Take it all with a grain of salt and look for consensus elsewhere until you are satisfied you have an answer that has some empirical method behind it. I've rarely gone wrong this way. Better luck next time.
Precisely! This is truth....I am a well know member because I post a lot. MANY have a lot more experience and most of what I have posted were questions about growing and pictures. But I have had a lot of stuff screw right up and that is how you learn what not to do
NO! Please gangagurl,! do you think all of taxonomy spent it's first months indoors? So Adam made a huge greenhouse in order that God could give us plants?!! NOT!Once again I feel this will throw noobs off into thinking they can just stick plants out and keep them out early and they wont go into flower. What works for 1 grower doesn't work always for the majority.
So for any noobs .....
Here is a sunlight calculator for your area. https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/
If the hours are less then 15 ...do not put them outside. And yes decrease your indoor light schedule slowly to match the outdoor schedule ... and harden them off slowly so they get both adjusted to natural sunlight and the cooler outdoor temps and you all will be just fine.
Umm...not sure how to respond to this lol.NO! Please gangagurl,! do you think all of taxonomy spent it's first months indoors? So Adam made a huge greenhouse in order that God could give us plants?!! NOT!
Come on, this is the kind of sweeping statement based on a mistake you made, that can screw up some poor new grower. You state; "What works for 1 grower doesn't work always for the majority." Certainly true, however, a mistake made by one who instead of learning from it, and decided to avoid it, altogether, is not a reason to propagate your mistake. Plant life was here long before humans and any "indoor" environment. Next year Jay, you will need to decide if you want to grow outdoors or in. (Firstly, an indoor starting set up is in the four figures range and an outdoor a few hundred) If one wants to grow outdoors, the first thing you need to learn is how to either sprout, and the balance of indoor to the "hardening off" of outdoor life, or buy clones that are still in veg. mode. Which is where this overlong thread started with a question from you who got a worthless clone that had already been thrown out of natural timing. Surely I agree with consulting the sunlight hours in your area, but this isn't for when you put your plants out, it's for knowing primarily when the equinox's are so you know when to change feeding schedules and ingredients to enhance the natural transition to flowering. AND Who is going to pay for all that electricity to keep plants isolated from what they naturally desire in the first place?! It's not hard to learn the basics of cannabis horticulture. Don't be intimidated by directives that seem contrary to what you already know about nature. It's easy to learn. ILGM's tutorial is simple and short and there are many such tutorials by knowledgeable people in cannabis horticulture. That is where you learn the basics, not here. This is a place to share and ask for help when what you have already researched seems contrary to your situation or you just can't find the answer. The net is rife with tutorials, yet you need to be discerning there as well as to the background, education, experience and popularity among growers. Beware of those who make pedantic conclusions that seem contrary to the consensus or to nature. Better luck next year Jay, you will be a much wiser grower by then if you do a little study and take what you read here with a grain of salt.
I think you missed her point entirely??NO! Please gangagurl,! do you think all of taxonomy spent it's first months indoors? So Adam made a huge greenhouse in order that God could give us plants?!! NOT!

Lol way to make a girl blush!First, before anyone choses to either ignore or dis @ganga gurl420, might want to first look at her current grow journal. This Gal is a Outdoor-Grow- Goddess. Ignore her at your own ignorance and peril.
Secondly, if there is some useful advice in this post, you'll have to point it out to me through all of the emotional, new-age bullshit.
Lmfao....wow you just don't get it do you? I'm done debating. Good luck dudeIf you don't know how to grow outdoors, don't tell other people how to. It's as simple as that. Do you really think plants can't be outside before summer solstice? Then who would and how did cannabis survive on Earth before gangagirl? IF you really want to protect the less experienced then don't direct them to follow your mistakes. Mention that this was your experience (setting plants out that were not hardened off). Marijuana was very successful on Earth long before humans came along, before electrical light and before any "indoors" existed. Successful seedlings simply came from a shady spot that avoided direct sunlight until the plant was "mature" enough to take to full force of the sun. This is the process we try to copy when we "harden off" our seedlings. We introduce them to full sun a little bit at time until they are ready for the full intensity of the Sun. It's easy to learn. This didn't happen in either Jay or ganga's cases which is why they failed. If ganga wants to pay for electric light until after summer solstice (and has all the rest of the equipment to nurture the plants that long) that's fine, just don't direct others that this is the right way, it's just your way. And it's NOT the natural way.
Seriously? As a fellow grower at the same latitude in NW OR, your plants look like those grown by the "big boys" in N CA. The fact that you're above 45' makes it even more amazing. You deserve all of the accolades that you receive. The proper response here, as opposed to blushing, is: "Damn Straight!".Lol way to make a girl blush!
I just felt the Dude needed to be bitch-slapped a little. Drives me crazy when folks come to the forum to spew grow advice that they got from their spiritual advisor, or when they make connections between things that are not related at all, then share them to show a level of expertise that they don't possess, and as a consequence, slow the progress of noobs. Jeezus!: said:And it's okay. I will not debate with him any further. I just wanted to protect those less experienced. It's terrible to have to wait an entire year to try again if things didn't go as planned outdoors especially due to mistakes like early flowering.
You are among the most humble and successful members on the RIU site. Thank you. Thanks tho seriously for the kind words

I am not humble...(As I just posted pics of my grow to prove that I know how to grow outdoors! Ugh..that dude is weird lol)Seriously? You need to drink a bottle of bleach. And if you have already bred, kill the offspring. Put an end to your dumb genes. He only has 2 seasons of growing under his belt so he is still learning..so probably not the best person to take advice from.Yes ma'am, anytime. I just cant handle retards going on and on while missing the point entirely. I did get a laugh about you not knowing how to grow outdoors?!
