I am using coco coir for the whole grow right now, but I am thinking of ordering aeroponic system to start my girls in it for faster seedling grow, it is kind of slow in the beginning. What do you guys think? Is it good idea or just a waste of money?

I've found that plants grow extremely fast in coco. Root growth can be explosive in coco.
Yes but nothing can beat aeroponics system from my understanding... And it can speed up veg time by one week easily! If we do 4 grows in a year it is !!!one month!!!

Aeroponics works great. I used to use an aeroponic cloner. Before I switched to cloning in coco. I switched because it was just easier to clone in coco and it didn't take much longer. A few other reasons I switched is because I got tired of hassling with keeping the reservoir clean and having to deal with pumps, clogged sprayers, etc... Also if for some reason the power goes out or the pump stops working your plants can go downhill fast. But the benefits outweigh any potential risks as small as they are for some people. I just didn't want to deal with it. I grew flood and drain hydro for years and wanted to get away from dealing with it so I went to straight coco and found everything was just so much simpler for basically the same reward. Once I added blumats to the mix I could leave my plants alone for a week or more without doing anything.

Aeroponic grows can be spectacular. When dialed in you can see extremely rapid growth. If I were you I would look into a DIY setup. I made one and it was very easy. Saved hundreds by making it myself. It worked great. It had 24 sites and cost around $50 to make. I still have it.

That looks great! I will dig into that. What about net pots, can girls be transplanted WITH the net pots straight into coco or should they be removed?

Yes you can go straight into coco. You don't even need to use net pots. The foam inserts for the holes have a hole in the middle and a slice to the outside. Just put that around the stem put it in a hole of the cloner and your good. If you use a net pot just cut the bottom off but I don't see any reason to use one.

Edit:

I see you mention seedlings. Are you growing from seed or making clones?

Yes I start from seeds cos I been told I'll get bigger girls from seeds, but I suppose it is myth?

I misunderstood and thought you were going to be cloning. That changes everything. Yes you'll need net pots. You'll also need some kind of medium in the net pot for the seedlings to start out. Some use rockwool, rapid rooters, etc... If I remember correctly I did run some seeds through mine. I used rapid rooters. I don't remember having any problems. You do have to be careful not to keep the medium too wet so you don't run it very often until roots start to come out the bottom and sides of the net pot. But you can put that straight into coco when ready.

Also not all net pots are the same. I preferred these ones with larger mesh for the roots.

BTW how did you manage to do so smooth holes in the lid of your DIY?

The cloner is for rooting also for the power issue I use a computer UPS battery and plug my timer into that, never had a problem with power outages.
