Not sure which cobs to go with for my application, that or i find a cob suggestion in an older thread but then find said cob has been discontinued....

Ive got 3 of these drivers im going to repurpose from my ole marshydro

I dont need the light from the cobs, i need the heat. I have 4 QB 304s in a 36x32. But i have to run a space heater in winter. Id rather make more light so the space heater can run less.

I figure using 4000k would be best as i have 2700 and 3000 in the QBs. That way i could use them for Veg as well.

I would prefer to use 3 cobs vs 6 cobs.

Ive got a few of these PC heat sinks i figure would work good.

Hi! If it is heat that you need just use a small HPS!(plus you will get extra IR) there is 100w HPS but maybe there is smaller ones! Cobs won't add that much heat unless you use it at full power!
Do you have your qb's drivers inside the tent or outside? Did you tried to use pc fans to remove the heat thru your plants? Seal the box?
Honesty the small HPS bare vertical bulb in the middle sound the more efficient and the cheapest way imho! COB will only raise temps a few °C(2 or 4°C no more unless you drive it very hard with a bad heatsink) if you choose the COB way because it is cheaper you should take the cheapest COB who will fit your driver! But I am still pretty sure that any HID lightning will produce a lot more heat!
Have a lifted one

Well i scrog.....if i had a 70w hps sticking down dead center of the QB fixture, 20ish" above canopy. Wouldnt i have issues with lightburn in the center of my grow?

I had kinda thought of this HPS idea but figured that lightburn/heat burn would be the issue, or too hot/close to my QBs

So (using cfl as an example) i had thought of doing an hps bulb horizontal like this.20180821_192952.jpg

but you suggest vertical like this?

yeah those CFLs arent that efficient and would give you a better heat/light ratio as well as some UV

you can even use the reptile CFLs for more uv but if doing that, put them on a seaprate switch and turn em off if working in the room

how bout old school fluoresecents? spectrum is good and would add a little UV
I dont think they would be temp hot enough....my garage will get into the high 40s on bitter cold nights. A florescent would take too long to add heat.

I will still need the space heater, i run it through a PID controller controller set at a 78-82° range. Its needed for lights of for sure.

But i figure it will run less with some kind of light making heat.

Last winter with just QBs it would run for about 2-3 minutes and be off for 5ish mins then back on for 2-3 again.....24/7.

Hi! The 70w HPS can be placed 4 inches from the plants! It is not a 400w or a 600w it will just add enough heat to allow you to save 750/1000w/h from the heater! And I am pretty sure that you can find it very cheap on Alibaba or from a local shop plus you can use the ballast to add more heat!
There is always the heating carpet they made for plants I never used it but a friend did and it is very usefull and use less watt than a heater!
You just need to do the math and find the cheapest and more effective way for your needs!
Have a lifted one and lots of good vibes from France growers!:fire:
