Using a room as a lung for tent ?s

Ok just trying to fine tune my setup and make sure im on the right track.

I have a 13 x 11 room.
In it i have a 4 x 4 tent which exhausts to outside.
Im running 1000 watts hps in the tent.
Theres a window ac to cool the room i think its 5000 btus.

Currently the lung room is at 77 with light on and the 440cfm exaust fan running on full.
Its near 95f here today so i think my temps are ok.
Normally the lung rooms at 73f
With lights on. This weeks just hot and nasty.
I cant wait for fall weather.

My questions are.
Should i be exausting out of the room and is there anything i can do to improve my setup.

Sounds like it works great. If you use a fan speed controller you can dial in the temp and humidity better as the temp outside drops.

77 is about perfect with a 1000 watt lamp. Bet you get very good plant growth.

In winter you can exhaust into the house but out of the tent room to not exhaust all the heat.

I run my room exhaust under my living room in winter to help heat the house. And out the chimney in summer.

I hate venting it outside but its the only way to keep tetemps down until fall.

Ive been tempted to try to turn the fan down a little.
Im thinking the slower the airs being pulled thru the more the ac can cool it.
Ive tried turning it down before and i dont think it helped.

Once it’s too hot out I agree. Full fan speed put the house and live with the ac air problem.

But at lower temps there is a sweet spot between fan speed and ac settings I think.

And I use 2 6” exhaust fans to help the long run to the chimney. I even exhaust out through my floor into the basement.

I am adding a 3rd fan right near the chimney at the end of the 6” duct run to help even more.

Fans only burn an amp of electricity. 3 doesn’t cost much more than 2 to run.

Is your hood vented? If you can, try to separate the light from the room completely, well you know what I mean. Get that heat out of there separately. Vented hood; intake and exhaust from the outside, even during the winter. This will give you a lot more control and allows the possibility for co2. If you want, exhaust into your house in the winter for the heat and the positive pressure. Hope this helps.

I'm back. Rather than start a whole new thread for a question in line with this thread I'd figure I'd dig this thread up.
It's winter and 5f to 32f outside.
Recently I've been venting into the same room to keep temps up. But I'm thinking I'm starving the plants of co2.
I'm thinking of throwing a heater in the room and venting to another room.
I'd rather ven't outside but I would have to move the tent to do that.
Might be my only option.
So am I right I thinking that venting into the same room with no fresh air is starving my plants of co2?
What would be a cheap way to add co2 and avoid moving the tent?

I'm running on a very tight budget. 2 months after making this thread my kid was kidnapped and violated by her ex and until he's been convicted I will not be going back to work. My kid needs me home big-time. Thankfully she's safe now.
This guys looking at decades in jail for what he did to my kid but I just want him to get set free so I can deal with him myself. Sick monster.

IMO, CO2 should be the last of your worries. After you have everything else dialed in and you have maxed out your growing potential, then it is time to look at CO2 to further maximize your theoretical cap.
If you are wanting to grow cheap, don't worry about CO2. I'd say 90% of the people that use it don't need it at all.

Nice thing about CO2 (other than yields) is being able to run a sealed grow to put out less odor. The AC unit has to be up to the task though.

Ok so I'm just going to vent it out of the room it's in tomorrow. It's getting to hot for my liking. Only upper 80s but I like to keep my canopy temps in the mid to high 70s.


I grew out some sweet stuff in there over the past few years. But recently had to move the tent to a different room and it's better insulated so it's getting warmer faster.

I also run a humidifier to up my humidity and that seems to get it hotter as well.
I'll update with temps after I ven't out of the room. I'm sure it will drop at least 5f or so.

I wish I had 1. I'm guessing they are pricey. But it might be worth the cost as it could potentially help get bigger yeilds.

On the co2, you would be surprised how little it can fall in a big room with one light. I got a co2 meter for my own curiosity for about £40
But @Renfro linked his the other day which is more accurate , $90 if I remember right, if he could link it again for you. That way you can see if you do have a problem before trying to solve one you may not have at all.

Like you, I run a lung room. I have a 4x4 tent. I have no clue what my CO2 levels are. Right now the wind chill outside is -22f, so I'm reusing my air rather than suck in that cold air and then have to heat it. My canopy temp is 69-71f.
Every grow I get better, and I think right now I'm at about 75% of my growing potential with my setup.
This is day 20 flower.

My goal is to obviously hit 100% of my growing potential.
After I hit 100%, if I wanted to go to 125%, I would take a look at CO2.
My point is, unless you have a very high temperature problem, or you are at 100%, you don't need to waste the money on it. You can get bigger yields for free without it.

I've been at this for a few years but this year I'm running on a very tight budget and trying to keep cost down.
My previous grows came out great but I was in a different room.this new room doesn't stay as cool as the other.

Why don't you not pull in cold air at night, or pull it in as needed?

This is almost standard amogst the far eastern growers this time of year
the lung room thru me but yeah an airlock we call it
some growers take warm air from maybe the kitchen funnel it to the airlock

then is passivily bled? to the grow tent as in no fan sux it into the tent

Lol no I hear you. Im definetly picking up what your throwing down.
I did miss a few things you said.

My hood is ac. And I can ven't it out of the room but I can't intake from anywhere else. Only intake would be the tent or the room the tent is in.

I might try to find a way to intake from somewhere else if that would be better than in taking from the tent or the lung room.

Currently I got it exhausting into another room and intake is in the tent. So far my temps are lower and the room is cooler but not as cold as I thought it might get.
Also the air is getting exchanged for fresh co2. If that even matters.

I'm not sure why I'm worried about depleting the co2. It's never bothered me before until I started reading about it online.
I'm probably over thinking the shit out of co2 lol.
