how can cannabis stop a voice in your head ?

Hi all,

Bit of a sensitive subject but i have had a voice in my head for as long as i can remember which isnt my own and in all honesty has made life hell at points.

Doctors tell me that weed causes voices , but i argue that for many years it has been the only thing that has helped me but dismiss it as they do not see it possible.

I am trying to round up some (evidence based) research as to what is going on and potentially helping to prove cannabis can treat Audio hallucinations.

In a recent study scientists found voices are created in the sub regions of the left temporal lobe (the same place that sorts through sound, sight ect).

In other tests scientists believe that your brain foes not send the right signal to your ears to tell you that the voice is internal and MUST be a real sound.

So obviously the part of your brain which makes a internal thought fails to tell your temporal lobe that its not a real sound and one believes they are hearing a external voice.

But how does this happen. What does cannabis do to make these signals run smoothly ?

I wouldnt blame you if you didnt have a clue as im struggling but if you have any info that will help me connect the dots please comment :)

the doctors told you weed causes voices in your head? what doctors? you need to tell them that they're full of shit. tell them to read some recent medical research, especially the study that was done recently that said weed doesn't significantly contribute to any recognized mental illness, or cause them.
if you're hearing voices in your head, you need to be under treatment. weed isn't going to be enough to help you, but feel free to use it, because it's not causing or adding to anything you have

I wouldn't worry about it if it doesn't get in the way of your daily life. I have severe tinnitus, constantly hear a loud dull crackling hiss 24/7. Always asking people to repeat themselves or i just nod like i understand. Just tune it out and go on with life. There is no cure for me but you can take meds. If it will clears up great if it not o well, just part of life.

Being bipolar my mind beats me up 24/7.If racing thoughts burned calories I'd be emaciated. I can go from air guitar to smashing walls in an INSTANT, it really sucks. Only when the voice in my head sounds like Morgan Freeman it becomes semi-tolerable.

Cannabis has adaptogenic properties, it is a great equalizer, Cannabis balances the scale across a broad range of ailments, across a diverse demographic of people worldwide, it has always been a miraculous herb that has healed Billions throughout time.

And there's science forthcoming at least monthly about the various new research and healing properties found in the plant, but much information has been withheld and scientific studies have been held back for decades by the powers that be, but science is King and it controls what people believe for the most part, this is why the new about Cannabis and it healing properties are spreading and Law's are being changed.

But for me I just go with what works and what my body tells me is right for me, and a large majority of Cannabis has helped & heals my various ailments and helped me regain balance in my life, what more could someone want from a plant?

I'm glad that the Cannabis is working for you Furious248, my sister has also had some recent issues with voices in her head, and she has reported back that the Cannabis is helping her with not hearing the voices anymore or as often if she runs out. I haven't heard any voices in my head , but I have survived a stroke and so far MJ has helped me regain strength within my mind due to allowing me to sleep restfully again and heal the portions of my brain that were damaged.

Just remember that Cannabis is capable of inducing neurogenesis, growth of new brain matter, and that the brain and nervous system are key target areas that Cannabis effects the most, it does have an affinity for the Brain especially among some of the key cannabinoids found within the Herb.

It cures what ails you, for the most part, there are other herbs that can be combined to intensify the healing effects, my latest discovery is within the Persimmon tree species, the leaves of the persimmon virgininiana can be harvested like the usual way Camellia sinensis tea leave from Asia are harvested and dried. It has many of the same longevity properties that are found in green tea , except there is no caffeine. And I have found that persimmon tea seems to have a modulating effect in the brain as well, seems to bring about clarity and a sense of well being, and dare I say a feeling of Zen.

Besides that persimmon has anti pathogenic influenza anti-viral properties within the leaves that fight off H1N1 - H3N2 and so forth, if that doesn't catch your attention, shucks, you got me.

My reason for explaining about the persimmon tea, is because the persimmon tea has been discovered to have unusually high levels of terpenes within the leaves, and through my own trials have found the persimmon in fact does seem to increase cannabinoid levels within the blood stream (there's a name for this but I can seem to find or think of it at the moment:eyesmoke:) and synergize or potentiate with our beloved Herb.

It stimulates your brain, making new connections, repairing broken ones, if it is your brain broken in the part that distinguishes memories of sound with sound you are hearing now, then perhaps it could eventually repair it, but if not, you will have a great time trying! Be you, dont let it become you.

I don't know about cannabis doing this, but many medicinal polypore mushrooms are considered immunoregulators. They don't attack the health issue directly, but bring your immune system into a more balanced state in which it is well equipped to do it's job. Perhaps cannabis is doing a similar thing with your brain chemistry.

I have the same issue...tinnitus sucks balls be we cope. I have white noise running day and night to block out this damned ringing. I guess it's better than hearing voices in my head though.

I know this might seem strange. Electrodes...electricity? I did a lot of research onYouTube on tDCS devices. I remember one man in particular who was grateful that he no longer had voices in his head after using it. https://thebrainstimulator.net/ I;m not affiliated with this website, it's just the first result that came up when I googled it. If you don't have any luck with cannabis, maybe you can try this. Good luck.

I started taking infused oil for insomnia 6 years ago. I did this knowing I already had a short term memory problem. Did my memory get even worse? Yes, for about 6 weeks. After that it started improving and is far better now than prior to starting with oil. I have discovered some amazing things. One of these is the value of doing serious brain work while high. It makes some tasks much more difficult. It turns out that doing brain work while high is to the mind like lifting weights is to the body. Doing things while high makes the brain more effective when you are not high.

Its ok to hear voices in your head, not necessarily ok to do what they tell you.

Maybe a doctor telling you pot causes this is yet an unnecessary voice in your head.

So, umm, what ARE the voices saying and are they identifiable or are they just random voices ?
