11 finger leaf

Hey guys, new to the site and pretty new grower. This is my second indoor grow. Anywho, I’m in week 4 of veg with a maple leaf strain, super Indica. I’ve just noticed on one of my babies that she is putting out 11 finger fan leaves. I’ve think I may have seen 9 but never 11. Someone said it may be a male. Sounds bogus to me, anyone have any info on this urban legend? Does this mean it’s a male or just the strain?? They are doing real well and super healthy. Just curious. Thanks

I have an 11 finger leaf male right now. It’s a genetic thing, not a sex thing.

@Olive Drab Green , that’s good news...she’s just such a bushy healthy plant. Would luv to see what she’s gonna flower. The one you have now happens to be a male though?

It is male, coincidentally. That many finger leaves is more common in Sativas, although yours appears to be strongly Afghani, potentially landrace. You get plants with 11-13 fingers once in a while, though.

Nice. Thanks for the info! This is my second indoor grow but I have seen a lot of plants, just never noticed anything more than 7 maybe 9. Well glad to hear that it’s genetics. Now let’s hope they are in fact the beautiful young ladies I hope they are!

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply. She ended up being female, with nice bud stacking and unbelievable crystal formation. Unfortunately I stressed her by over trimming and during water change just to much root agitation, so she completely stopped forming buds about 5-6 weeks into flower and just formed about a billion seeds.... I brought her to for Fruition, and the smoke was absolutely unbelievable. Unfortunately the buds just never grew to full potential in the sheaves will just overbearing. Oh well lesson learned. Thanks for all the info everyone.
