Hi all,
I live in New England and have 3 outdoor plants in 10 gallon pots. I was recently told that I will have to travel for work from Sep 28 to Oct 8... smack in the middle of harvest season. I have an AK-48 Fem that suggests harvesting at the end of September and 2 bag seeds that currently look behind the AK-48 (so estimating mid Oct). I'm not sure if I should harvest early and accept lower yields/lower THC or harvest after I get back and risk deterioration of THC or destruction from mold.
I think I have 4 options:
1. Harvest all 3 mid Sep (around the 15th) - This is very early and will inevitably result in low yields and low THC, but if I do this I can dry in 7-10 days and get the heavy cure out of the way before I leave, however, mold might grow in the jar while I'm gone.
2. Harvest all 3 the day before I go (Sep 27) - This will be perfect for the AK-48, but will be too early for the baggies. I can have them dry while I'm gone and cure when I get back, but I will be gone for 10 days and they could dry out too much without monitoring.
3. Harvest AK-48 before I got (Sep 27) and baggies when i get back (Oct 9) - For the AK-48 same pros and cons as #3, but for the baggies I could harvest at the optimal time, however, I risk significant lose due to botrytis (This is a very common problem in NE)
4. Harvest all 3 when I get back (Oct 9) - AK-48 would be harvested late and there is a high potential of having significant lose due to botrytis from all plants, but I would be able to have an accurate dry and cure.
We have been getting hit hard with rain lately (had to retrellis and harvest a few branches early) and are expecting to get hit again next week.. botrytis is inevitable. What do you think I should do?
Thanks for your help!
