Outdoor - No Idea What I'm Doing

Reaching out to the nice people of RIU (and gb123) because frankly I have no idea what I'm doing.
I've done many indoor grows, primarily small scale but helped out a few bigger ones.
This year, we decided to do some outdoor because.. why not?
I didn't expect it to work, I added no nutrients and I just wanted to see how a "weed" grows.

I have no idea if these things are on schedule or doing what they're supposed to at all.
It looks gorgeous, but I've never had to rely on the sun before.

Well .... my outdoor grow a few years back was so crappy that yours looks stellar. I wish all of my indoor grows looked that good.

I literally threw 3 seeds in some starter material - 2 of them popped so I stuck them both in the ground.
1 is the one in the photos, the other is about 2 weeks behind because someone left the shed light on at night and the plant didn't go to sleep

All I've added is water, but this thing is growing over 8 feet tall now.

Beauty! Looks on point, prolly another 4-6 weeks depending on preference.

depending on location; might want to think about some sort of polly cover you could put up if the weathers turns.. hate to lose it at the end

congrats though, looking good.. i much prefer growing OD (and TBH; smoking OD stuff too, i find the taste amped up a bit)

Talk to me about this.
Are we worried about wind or rain or.. cold?
I definitely don't want to lose this thing in the final mile.

Bud rot is what all outdoor growers fear
The humidity and rain in the fall causes early harvest for more than a few
I would stake it ( it is going to have a lot of weight ) and have some form of plastic sheeting ready for weather

yup, the dreaded bud rot.
i'm in BC.. so i always have to be prepared to put up some sort of shelter for them.

the rain will make them heavy, which without support can be trouble (i give them a 'hippy shake' if i've not covered them yet and it rains -grab the branch and shake the water off lightly)

the main fear is budrot, which can be tough to spot with untrained eye, as it's often within the bud, along the stalk where it starts.
just keep a keen eye for strangely dying leaves, or if you've got like 1 leaf turning purple.. inspect the area, might be something ill going on.
you should be good for a bit yet though.. more a very end of life problem

Thanks for the info. This plant already almost fell over once (due to getting heavy, soil getting wet/loose and the tie down pulling it over).
I caught it in time, but I've since reinforced it so that it won't fall over again.
I'll look into a plastic sheet covering - should be pretty easy where it is since there are solid structures on 2 sides.

Looking forward to harvesting this thing one day

Been wet this week, but looks dry for a bit again.

I don't think Plant 2 will make it in time. It has only just started to show any sort of flower.

Learn to make concentrates.......imo that's all that will be good for. Not enough time left to make it decent. All the outdoor I've seen so far looks pretty schwaggy.

I was thinking of doing this. I might try making live resin if it goes far enough, otherwise shred it up and make stem tea

I'm not trying to be negative...just the way i see it. Yup brew away. IMO we just aren't setup for outdoor in Ontario.
Why not use autoflowers?

Just curious but what would be a fair price to you per gram for pure honey oil for instance? I mean made and ready to go for you? I know many places charge 40-50 per gram...what do you think would be fair?

Why not use autoflowers?

I got these seeds for free from JustaHandful.
They were in a plastic bag that said "GODISS" so I threw them in the dirt.
Nothing ventured, nothing lost.

I don't see why everyone doesn't use autoflowers. I know they yield less....just grow more.
