For the longest time I always thought why me. Why did my great grandparents come here to escape, and still have to work so hard.

Even though I was smart, things weren't going right. Life sucked. It was everyone's fault but my own. Sound familar?

For evidence of where the real violence comes from, look at the people who are being beaten and dying? They are the people resisting white supremacists. The people who are training up and preparing for violence are the white supremacists. I've been to the demonstrations. 99% of the 3,000 people who showed up to oppose the relatively small crowd of neo-Nazis were orderly. We were loud because we wanted to drown out the hate speech. We confronted them with our speech and our numbers. It's an important political message to send to our police and politicians too.

I'm one of those "Man created God in his own image" guys. But I always looked on prayer as a way to concentrate your thoughts on what you are needing. That can't hurt.

For the last 25-30 years I played around with the Creek tradition. I always use the same prayer, no matter what I'm doing. {facing East, where the sun comes from} "Grandfathers, bless this union." Most of the time the union is the earth and my shovel.
