You don't get it. This isn't a trial where the defendant's freedom is at risk and the standard of proof is quite reasonably set high. This is a hearing about whether or not Kavanaugh is a good choice for the SCOTUS. All that's required is whether or not we believe what people say. This is true for all hearings. People are required to answer truthfully at the hearings and Kavanaugh has already lied five times in other situations. He's lost his credibility, he doesn't deserve to be believed in this case. So, the question remains, is Ford believable.

Do you need me to recap all the valid reasons for believing Ford? It even turns out that the attempted rape was a scandal in his school at the time. No wonder the GOP leaders are suppressing further investigations into this by the FBI.

You really shouldn't defend rapists. But you do.

What you and Bug fail to understand (or wish weren't true) is that nobody must prove beyond reasonable doubt that Kavanaugh is a rapist. All that is needed is whether or not Ford's story is believable.

Do I need to re-iterate all the reasons why Ford's story is believable?

You do know that Kavanaugh has lied five times under oath since the hearings began, don't you? And you still believe the guy. Typical.

Guess we will have to wait and see if she shows up Monday. Ball is in the accusers court. What the Dirty Diaper Gang fails to see is thier total lack of objectivity.

Right wing goons have made Ford and her family go into hiding. They cannot go home for fear of retribution.

Then Republican Senators demand she make an appearance at publicly known time and place, she has to name that place by tomorrow. For an arbitrarily chosen day -- Monday, no other day. It sounds more like something from The Godfather 3 than a hearing for a Supreme Court Justice.

You guys are getting so desperate that you'd do this for no good reason. Just nominate somebody else. There has to be one qualified right wing abortion hating judge out there who hasn't raped a woman, girl, boy or other. Maybe not. I'd like to think so, anyway.

How about this guy for SCOTUS? He seems well connected and hasn't raped anybody that we know of:

Jason Van Dyke has a long list of infractions. Now he faces charges for allegedly lying to police.

He only has some domestic violence in his past. That shouldn't be much of a barrier for Republicans. He's not even lying about it.

A small issue of lying to police about faking a robbery for some unknown reason shouldn't bother Grassley. After all, he's a supporter of gun laws and defends the Proud Boys exclusively. I bet he'd carry water for Trump. Maybe even help make him "president for life".

I do get it and just happen to disagree with your assessment of it being a good idea to dismiss highly scrutinized individuals based on unverifiable claims from the distant past. Can you not see how this would be used against future candidates that you may like?
