So I have been obtaining supplies to start my first grow. I will be building a box no bigger than 32" x 32" x 7' (may even do 24" x 24" x 7') to store in my garage. Framed with 2x4s, insulated with R-13 insulation, and lined with purple drywall. I will either be painting the inside flat white or using diamond mylar. My question is concerning ventilation. I purchased a 4" IPower 190cfm exhaust fan and a 10" carbon filter (came as a kit on amazon). I would prefer to have a intake filter also but I have read you want a slight negative pressure inside the grow room. To achieve this my intake would have to be smaller then my exhaust correct? I was looking into a 4" cone style filter or the 12" x 12" furnace hepa filters which I feel is way to large. What do some of you experienced growers recommend? For lighting ill be running either a HLG 135w 288 v2 3000k qb or 200wx6 3500k from the member higgs here on the fourm. I am a complete n00b I just like to research and ask around to build the best possible environment for my future girl. Constructive criticism is definitely welcomed.

I think your attention to detail will make you a solid grower ... good luck

I appreciate the kind words. Just thought of an idea for my intake side I could mount this on the exterior of my box and just reduce the size of the opening on the inside. Cheap/easy to replace filters and reducing the size on the inside of the box would still allow for negative pressure. I think most go down a size on the intake which in my case would be 2" does that sound too small or should I be okay since the space is so small. Don't wanna choke the fan up too much.

I cant post the link but its basically a return air filter grill that houses a 12" x 12" filter. Same as the one in your homes HVAC just smaller

I wouldn't think two inch is big enough

I have just proven to myself that I no longer need to use any kind of soil or medium other than a rockwool cube and a sheet of half-inch polyester batting.
No more lockouts, no panicking about if the power goes out for a while as the cubes hole a shitload of water but get rinsed with fresh water every time the gravity feed T at the top on of the tray starts spraying water. Ok I am only one week into flowering but this is by far the easiest grow I've done other than outdoors over mild winter.
