Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

I couldn’t handle the wait so I went home early from work to check the letter to confirm and sure enough it was my card. And then I figure out that my dispensary is closed on Monday’s.

I mailed my app in with signature confirmation. They received it July 27, 2018. They have still not cashed my check. I don’t know what’s going on and the state refuses to give me answers.

Nothing is going on yet. That's why your check has not cleared yet. "It is being processed in the order it was received". I envision this as stacked in mail bins awaiting attention. I don't think anything is the matter other then it is government. It's going to take as long as it takes. I wouldn't stress too much. They had mine on August 1st and my check has not cleared. Please tell us when yours clears and I do hope it's soon!

This is just so frustrating.

I noticed on my card that I got today the date it was approved/issued was 8/28. So it took almost a full month from the time they approved to when I received it. And I called them probably four times and emailed them once during that period and they never ever said it was approved, only that I would receive a letter eventually.

See, I do wonder if there is a way to track what happens after the dispensary has your paperwork sent in and when they send it. Right now we basically only have an assurance that it will be sent because they want you as a client.
That is an improvement. I think we would be shocked at the small amount of people the state has processing the apps. Think handful.

"Harmon said he is working to amend his bill to address a growing backlog of people applying for the cards. The wait period is supposed to be 30 days, but it has grown to between 90 and 120 days. Harmon blamed the problem on the inaction of Gov. Bruce Rauner’s “uncooperative administration.”
The Democrat said he is adopting a 14-day wait period for his bill because he doesn’t want patients to have to wait months before they have access to an alternative to opioids.
“That’s one of the things we’re trying tackle in the amendment is how to streamline this process to make sure that we can get the administration to get out of the way,” Harmon said.
From a Suntimes article in August, looks like things will improve. Its just going to take some time and newer people.

Not getting into politics at all, but this, so much this! I'd wager the three people who everyone keeps getting on the phone are the THREE people who work there. I'd also wager that people calling repeatedly is slowing things down way way more than the people calling and demanding answers can even grasp. I'd also wager that those worker's know those of you who call ALL the time by name and voice and if you think a state worker isn't petty and underpaid enough to lose or misplace or put your paperwork at the bottom of the pile I've got a bridge to sell you

You might want to Know that Rauner is the Person who blocked Chronic Pain from being a Qualifying Condition, and it still is not approved. You have to be Diagnosed specifically with SEVERE Fibromyalgia. I have been on Disability and Opioids 10 years, yet he says I am not deserving of it? I got my card by Getting a Spinal disease exemption. But MANY people in situations like mine are not only Denied disability, but also Medical Cannabis. That is So Wrong. And ONLY under Rauner and Republicans like Jeff Sessions who have done this. Rant Over, Make It Legal.

Frankly, the chances are extremely high that Illinois would have at least a robust medical system had Rauner not been elected. It likely would be legal by now. The state supports it and many local and state politicians do. The only thing preventing this is Rauners veto. This isn’t really “talking politics” more then just stating fact. Good posts.
Rauner signed (after much hand wringing) the most recent part of the act at a non profit I worked at for over a year. It helps the most desperate and critically ill people and houses a needle exchange. I just don’t see Rauner doing something like that if he wasn’t pressured. I say this to try to provide an example of how mere pressure can cause change.
I am a PTSD patient who is currently going through exposure therapy. Not having access to my medication is making it more difficult on me. That being said, there are people with terminal illlness who need meds with 48 hours!
