Shade cloth question

Hey guys, do you think it would be a good idea to cover my plants with a 30% shade cloth if the temp is 80+. They get full direct sun for at least 12 hours. Wouldn't the reduction in temp be better for bid and they are probably getting enough light. Or would not shade cloth be better

I wrote that on my iphone in a hurry and it reads terribly. Alright well i am writing this to get an idea for next summers grow. I have a spot that receives direct sun for at least 10-12 hours a day and the temp are often 85-100. I have read that above 85 degree's a plants growth slows down by 80% using the majority of its energy to keep cool. If i was to use a 30% shade cloth and since its a dry heat it would keep the plants temps much lower without sacrificing that much sunlight. Since they recieve direct sun throughout the day and if the temp was in the 70's wouldn't that create more of an indoor climate with larger bud production. Thanks

I know people use shade cloth to cultivate peppers and tomatoes and such, but have no personal experience using them on MJ. I would try it with the 30% on half your plants and see how they turn out. Ultra violet rays can be a bitch so IMO it should work great. That said, cannabis is very heat tolerant. Some of my plants withstood temps above 105˚ for days on end, and turned out very nice so go figure.

Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in any minute...

I use it.. but temps get well over 100 here in summer for months... 80 degrees is nothing for the ladies..

I do like it as a privacy screen as well... it's the main reason I am using it..

it's also great as a wind break... have mine keeping mine upright rather then blown over.

80s are great, they wont need any form of shade cloth for that. have hit around 110 here, try to keep them watered and fed and they will thrive. have never had a problem outdoors with high temps
uvb from the sun will actualy be beneficial :) too lazy to look up the studies showing high altitude grows vs low, and uvb supplementation for indoor grows.

i say the 80s are alright but its the 70's that are great. i always recommend using shade cloths if u see temps above 85 on a regular. my plants seem to stay much more dark green thru the veg process when using shade cloths. i only like to use em durin veg for two reasons... one its normally cooler by the time theyre budding anyways and second it can make ur plants stretch more due to less light which in turn can cause fluffier buds. i usually keep it up thru the first two weeks of flowerin n by then the temps normally stay in the 80s. althought this year has been hot as fuck, if i didnt still have plants in the ground i would be lookin forward to the rain thats comin next week.

I am thinking high altitude grows vrs low would me little considering how far the sun is away from the earth. Indoor would be different though for lights to the plants distance plays a factor. Could be wrong but thats my thinking.

Whats the best place to buy shade cloth? Best deals?

Could a guy use this for carport sides? Whats the lowest % they make? How does it hold up to high winds?

Figure my avatar with shade cloth sides and ends to keep moths out. Would this work in Oregon fall weather?

Yes, shade cloth from Home Depot works very well for carport sides (see pics in links below). It's what I use.
0% bud worms this year!

How do you think it will hold up to mild winds? Can wind rip it? Does it deflect water when used a sidewall? On wet windy Oregon Octobers would the cloth splash water on the plants from flapping in the wet wind?

So far it's shade cloth or near 0% mosquito netting.

My Greenhouse is made of shade cloth. My plants never get 100% full strength sun light only about 75% with the cloth. I cant complain at all about my results being it is my first grow my buds are looking very good. I live in the desert where temps where in the 110+ in the summer and temps are still in the 90s now so shade is needed in my location.
I have had a few pretty good rain and wind storms with large trees blown down ect and the shade cloth held up 100% no issues at all.
Got mine at Homedepot. You can see it in my avatar its behind the flower.
