New here on my second run

Hey all, been lurking for years now actually finally decided to say hi. On my second run with white widow auto flower. First run I did two plants was able to squeeze 1.2 oz off of them total, not the greatest. I got confused when I planted them and harvested two weeks too early, but man oh man are potent. The trichs were still clear, but for some stupid reason I thought it had been 8 weeks already. I switched to a Optic 2 LED for this run, the first run I ran a 150w hps. Everything is going good so far. Only issue I had was some seeds not germinating so had to plant more which delayed some of them. All are not in sync with the sprout date. You can tell from the pic the smaller ones are about a week behind the biggest one. The biggest one is 16 days in, the rest are about 9-11 days in. Using FFOF soil, 3 gal smart pots. 4" filter and fan & 27" x 27" x 66" tent.

I raised the lights up because they are really compacted together and not stretching much (just like my last grow). I raised it up to the recommended height of 25" from Optic. I don't want compacted plants again. I ran my HPS too close the first time, although heat was not an issue, they did not stretch much. I can see the same pattern starting again, or it just could be the strain, not entirely sure. The last two I grew were about 21" tall and not very bushy at all. They mainly had one big center cola from the bottom to top and a few smaller ones on the side branches. I am pretty sure I over saturated them with light and they were wayyyyy too close.

Thanks guys glad to have finally said hi.

Cool. Looks like you're off to a good start. You'll want to filter those vents on the bottom of the tent to keep dust and other stuff out that will stick to the buds when they get ripe and sticky.

Good luck and happy growing.

It is funny I was just thinking of that as I can see some dust and stuff getting stuck on the screens. Any recommendations on what I can use?

I just got one of these, took the filter material out of the frame, and cut it to the sizes I needed. It's FPR 4 stops all the bad stuff from getting in. Works with a passive air system like you have letting air get through. For some reason I thought I had a higher FPR but 4 is good.

So the plant in top left corner seems to be acting wierd. It gets a tad bit droopy. I live in a tropical climate so it’s 90 outside still. Every time it gets a little droopy I put it outside in the nice hot sun and it LOVES it and perks right back up. I put it back under the lights and 24-48hrs she’s a little sad again. The other 3 are happy as can be under the light. It’s soooo odd.

Decided to not go 24hr light. I have some concerns with energy costs and what not so just leaving at 18/6 as of now. Having no issues with that light cycle any how. My main reasoning is I did 18/6 with the hps last grow and I want to see if this LED produces better, worse or the same results at the same lighting cycle as the hps. The bigger lady has grown big enough where I can tuck the leaves under and allow the lower tops to come up. Just under 48hrs you can see the difference in size of the all of them. They are growing like crazy and I can say that they are definitely growing faster than my last grow with the hps. @xtsho I also took your advice and covered the screens.

I do 24/7 for my plants until I switch to 12/12. It shouldn’t be to bad energy wise with both ch. a and b on it says it pulls just 205 watts from the wall. Either way 18/6 is fine too.

Mine are autos so they will stay 18/6 the whole run or 24/7 the whole run. Yes it wouldn’t be too much more in energy costs and my lights are only 205w at the wall. The main reason i don’t want to switch to 24/7 Is becuase I want to compare my last run with hps and this one runnning led. Trying to keep the environment as close to the same possible.

I have a question if someone can enlighten me. Would adding my 150hps cause me to have too much light? Would bring it up to 355w in a 2x2? I can control the heat so no issue there. I can move the lights up further if need be as well I still have room. Let me know what you guys think? Would def cause me to spike in electricity use.but if it’s worth it I’ll do it.

I am torn, I wanna keep this just LED to see what she can do solo, but I feel like adding the extra 150hps would really fatten them up once they really start flowering.

fyi: the tent is actually 27” x 27” x 5.5’

My sad but surprisingly potent white widow harvest last run. Bare in mind my girl already smoked 1/3 of it when I took this picture. Smelled wonderful none the less.

205w should be plenty of light for 5 sq feet. if you want to really do your experiment finish this run with just the LED and then do a run with both! imo both is way too much light for that space.

You think 205w is too much? I mean its right at 50w a square foot. I dunno, they seem to like the 205w right now. I do have the light rather high though. I think your right on the additional 150w would probably be over kill.

Update time! Officially on week week 4 tomorrow with most of these girls. They looked sad this morning as they needed water pretty bad. Today was the first day I actually watered the entire pot until run off, half gallon each. They loved it! No nutes yet as they are just starting to show preflowers, and this soil has lots of nutes still left. I can tell the soil still has nutes as the growth is still explosive and the tips have a ever so slight and I mean ever so slight of nute burn. So adding any N would completely derail me. Right now they are perfectly balanced. They are loving this light too!

Not a super active forum I see. I Feel like I am just talking to myself in this thread lol. Oh well, at least I will have a good journal of how this grow went.
