Nothing to do with the market, but this has been the most disturbing week in the news in a long time... and I haven't even watched the Kanye debacle yet. I woke up with a horrible feeling today. But unlike Schuylaar who is prescient, special and supernatural (and very, very important) it was just because I am paying attention.
The markets seem to suggest that many others understood it too.

One of the guys from the shop came up last week with some raffle tickets for his daughter's softball league. They know I'll always support them on things like that. I gave him some good-natured shit about the raffle. The four prizes are fucking guns. Where I come from (Chicago), that never happens but it always happens here; the only thing they raffle are guns. There's a sig sauer 9, a bushmaster, an AR-15, etc. I told him I don't need a gun (I have several, all revolvers but I do not keep them in my home - I have a three year old and two Louisville Sluggers [front door; back door]). I told him I would see him this week after I got some cash.wouldn't be a bad time to stock up on some camo netting...
So today I went to the bank and got some cash - I literally carry none these days - and went by his work station. He said "what are you going to do if you win a gun?" I told him "I'll keep it".
A lot can change in a week.
But still... softball league? Guns? What the fuck is wrong with us?

Obama inherited a crashing economy and at this point in his term the market was up 38%
Trump inherited Obama’s booming economy and the market is only up 26%. And that was all gained in the first year. There have been zero gains in the market since trump started his pointless and unwinnable trade war
