If you use peat, then gypsum is pointless. Oyster shell and/or rock dust mixed with peat will have all of the Sulfur and Ca that you need, don't need to add more... Peat has Sulfur in it and that is what makes the Ph low, you will need to Ph balance it with OSF or Rock Dust.Where do you get organic garden gypsum in canada?

@hyroot thanks for the info,Thats mostly in peat bogs that form along coastlines. The highest concentration of carbon bonded ester sulphur 10.4% is found in peatlands in the Florida everglades. The peat we get comes from wetlands in Canada and.has less than 2% sulfur. Its acidic because it develops in anaerobic environments. The sulfur is sort of a byproduct. It doesn't cause the acidity.
Gypsum can still be useful... I only add 1 cup of.gypsum per cubic foot in a soil mix. I only reamend soils once or twice a year
For rock dusts.@hyroot thanks for the info,
Your using one cup per now eh?
Do you have an updated soil list.
Im trying to source the ingredients.
Heres your list from page one
My soil mix - coots mix adjusted
Equal parts peat moss, wormcastings / compost and garden pumice.
per cubic foot
1/2 cup kelp meal
1/2 cup crab shell meal
1/4 cup ahimsa indian neem cake
1/4 cup karanja cake
1/2 cup malted barley seed
2 cups basalt rock dust
2 cups gypsum rock dust
1/2 cup em1 bokashi or grokashi
Hey man , i seen your youtube . And instagram. Greatjob, it really helps to have someone explain out basic shit . Everyone comes from different backrounds in this game and those little details are what really help. For rock dusts.
1 cup gypsum
1 cup glacial
2 cups basalt
And bokashi i don't have a set amount. I just top dress enough to cover soil with a thin layer. Then turn the soil 2 weeks later after the mycelium mat develops.
The rest of the inputs are the same.
For reamending i use half what the soil mix initially calls for of everything
Is plaster of paris the same as organic garden gypsum ?Thats mostly in peat bogs that form along coastlines. Just get gypsum rock dusts from your local nursery. If you have to order it get it from build a soil. Unless you're closer to the east coast. Then order from the soil makers. Because of shipping costs.
I bought a 30 lb bag at a nursery.View attachment 4215599
Where do you get organic garden gypsum in canada?
The local mine?
Garden store?
Beer store?
Amazon?
Or just go get some fucking plast of paris and call it a day. Rocks are organic dont be stupid. .
Help?
I'm not trying to argue, but my soil tests always come back high in sulfur after adding peat. Also, my trace/micros are low even though I use kelp, basalt, and glacial rd... I talked to Tad Hussey @ Kis Organics and he seems to think that rock dusts are not enough for micros. He had an interview with Steve Solomon and they admitted that there is not a good source of Mn to be found except for chelates or sulfates. Solomon also said that it would take a ton of rock dust to get a cup of zinc. I don't claim to be an expert, just some dude looking for answers!Thats mostly in peat bogs that form along coastlines. Im going to make my own bokashi... Man these recipes seem pretty easy so far.Bokashi is a good source of magnanese also. The grains bokashi is made with is rich in mn

Aem is activated labs. The difference between labs and em1. Is that aside from lactobacillus em1 also has other yeasts and purple non sulfur bacteria. So you just use
activated labs as em-1/aem.
?
OK great, i wont buy em 1 then,Aem is activated labs. The difference between labs and em1. Is that aside from lactobacillus em1 also has other yeasts and purple non sulfur bacteria.
I don't buy em1. So I make aem.
Activating labs is fermenting 1 part lab 1 part molasses or brown sugar and 20 parts water for 2 weeks or til ph is below 4.0.
You activate em1 the same way.
