For many years I used to join a pheasant club out in the rice fields north of Sacramento. They would sell you trespass rights for hunting season to 1000's of acres of harvested rice fields. The ditches were full of pheasants and crawdads. You would just hear crunch, crunch, as you walked on all the dead crawdads left behind when they drained the fields before harvest. Millions of dead crawdads....You know that Bobs master baiter bait shop in Isleton is crawdad central right! I used to go to rhe restaurant right there when the crawdad festival was happening.
