Fuck me, you lot like a chat! I'm desperately trying to catch-up on reading this thread from about a year ago & I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle here!
Here's my current situation & looking for some input/advice/slap in the chops for a newbie (well, not quite...
) on a half-decent organic soil mix:
50L rotted cow manure
25L Mushroom compost
Couplea big handfuls each of Rooster Booster, Seamungus pellets & soil wetta granules.
Was going to add blood & bone & potassium Sulphate, but since I've been reading this thread, decided against it (due to wildlife), as this lot is going into the bush in 58L fabric pots.
With that, I'm thinking:
1-part above mixture
2-parts soil from the local ag. store (apparently already has some compost in it)
1-part perlite
Water-in the transferred seedlings with a bit of weak go-go juice.
Questions for those in the know:
1. Would this be too "hot"? Maybe more soil to the mix?
2. Could I plant solo-potted seedlings into this mix in 1-Gal pots for awhile until they get big enough to go into the "big" bags & survive the transfer?
I've got some mycorrizae on-order (that hasn't arrived
), but want to get the seedlings into bigger pots ASAP, as they're already showing roots through the bottom of the solo's. Am I getting antsy unnecessarily?
Any/all advice gratefully received.
