The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

Very interested of these boards, especially how hard you can run them without heatsink.
The ease of the fotop boards has got me hooked ;)

Also, what are the dimensions on these boards?

The board can run at 70watt without heatsink, if with heatsink, it can be run at 150watt, if the heatsink is good enough, the boards can run at 240watt.

70watt, the input voltage is 42-48V@1600mA, with heatsink, then run at 150watt, the voltage is 42-50V@3200mA.

Dimensions are

at 70watt, HLG-80H no heatsink and with heatsink, HLG-185H, maybe HLG240.
512 diodes total
352 samsung lm561c
I'm sure only a lunatic would want to run these boards at 240 watts but hey, if it floats yer boat, why not?
70 - 100 watts per board will probably suit me better.
After all a QB and GG Board can throw out a powerful amount of photons at 70~ watts.

Have you already tested your lm301b board?
Unfortunately we never had time to do a like for like test, we had a lot to setup with little time. The lm301b boards were run at about 250w with a 3mm alu sheet backing and didnt run very hot. 3 over 2x1m with decent cover.

The lm561c boards were grouped in a fixture of 5 boards over a 2x1 m section, about 12 cm apart, and no heatsink, maximum 150w each with stunning results, both in amount of light, depth of light and thermal performance. Personal take away was: at almost half the price of an lm301b board you get better value from 2 lm561c. Especially when it come to building frame and everything as they run very nice with no heatsink. Also, the lm561c fixture was very easy to build and power: 5 boards in parallel with an 8way wago, the 3 free wago slots are used for drivers. That way dimming is done by simply adding or removing a driver. But with 3 drivers in the same wago there was a slight flicker, will get a hlg480 in order to have maximum of 2 drivers connected.

All in all we were extremely happy with all boards though, having the lm301b boards on higher power and heat will help during cold winter months. While the lm561c fixture will do nicely in summer with +30°C outside. So they complement. Hope that helps, sorry for no real data :)

Next thing may supplementary red, far red and IR. Anyone ever done a side by side with IR or got any advice?

Jerry Kingbrite has been a trusted seller on alibaba for some years but i couldnt say anything about his qbs. Although, they arent that cheap, i think i paid 20us$ per board for 304 qbs in my last order from meijiu.

Did you try them yet without heatsink? Or does 70w number come from the seller?

Looks veeeery nice and likely to end up on the list of things to try out. Very interested in any info on this.

That's from the vendor.
I think a bit of testing is required.
Rough calculations of surface area, 1 fotop almost = 4 R2T boards. 4x70=280w, and the fotop i wouldnt wouldnt run harder than 200 with no heatsink. So maybe a bit high. But still mighty nice looking

What all did you get for that much?
it was actually 1200 for the order, i spent around 1400 all together with the frames, wiring, hangers ect.
Its still to be seen if the drivers are going to be big enough for late flower, but thats all I can run until I can afford to get an electrician out here to move a few lines and breakers around and upgrade my panel. If I add any more drivers or swap with bigger ones, ill start tripping breakers. Right now I only have 2 15a circuits to run the whole grow and the lights I already have take up a whole one on their own. With a 1/4 hp chiller, cloning station, veg tent t5s, and all the different pumps and fans I have the other ones pretty much full too.

I did some measuring with a meter and there should be enough light to get them through flower if I bring them in close, ill just have to let everything stay within a foot of the boards. Each QB is close enough that the light levels barely drop off between the boards until you get closer than that.

I've got a few of the same R2T boards that you have bought, Moflow. Running 4 of them @ 90W-ish each, together with 8 CXB3590's @ 28W each.

The heatsinks weren't ready when I ordered my boards, so I had to improvise. They are mounted on 5mm alu plates, with u-profile alu bars on the top for extra surface area. I'll grab a better pic next time I'm down there.

What kind of temps are they running at? Trying to see if its worth running these bare with no heatsink.

I think they are running at around 40 Celcius with some airflow over the topside. I haven't checked in a while, and I have a terrible memory, but it wasn't bad. I'll check again and let you know.

Question.

How would you guys run 2 EA QB960 with LM301B's? They both max out at 480w.

Without heatsinks they shouldn't run more than half power, so total 480w. Not even sure where to find a heatsink for these that will allow to run higher or if I even should?

Should I use 2 x 480w driver's or 1 x 600w driver?

Depends on what space you want to cover and what much height you have. At 240 watts each i would at least use someone alusheet backing.
