400w or 600w hid in a 2x4x6

I'm thinking about going hid for awhile till I can get high quality leds. I have a 2x4x6 tent my question is do you think a 600w is too much heat to handle in that space should I just get a 400w?

Why don’t you get an adjustable 600 ballast? Gives you room to grow up to a 4x4 tent later without needing new lighting, plus you can run it at 400 or 600 watt.

Is that a ballast that will run 400w or 600w bulbs or a dimmable ballast that only runs 6's but are tuned down to a equivalent? If it's an equivalent does that make change in the values because just looking quickly a 600w dimmed to 75% is 450w so it actually seems like a better number to go with.... I just don't know if a 600w dimmed works as well as a 400w working peak levels because of the way the bulbs constructed or something of the sort or will I get with a 600w dimmed a few more watts for more light and possibly longer bulb life....... I go crazy thinking about these things!

It runs a 600w bulb....just dimmed down. Something like this

I've got a 600w dimmable with an air cooled hood in my 2x4x5. I usually run 250w in veg and I've used the 600w in flower but the temps are hard to manage. I'd want 8" exhaust instead of the 6" my tent has. It was definitely doable with the AC feeding cool air in, but if it wasnt for the AC or winter it would've been difficult. I'm vegging now and temps should be somewhere around -20 by the time I fire up the 600, so it really depends on how you're planning to exchange air.
