Trimming today and had like little clouds of smoke coming out of the buds?? Is this dust when it was hanging down in my basement?? Nothing was visible on the buds.

It means that mold has infested your buds and grown enough that it can fruit and produce spores, which are like seeds for mold. The spores are so tiny and plentiful that it looks like smoke. Definitely bad.

Mold likes dark damp conditions, too much humidity in late flower or drying can cause mold. Usually if it happens in flower you get rotten buds (peel 'em apart and look inside.)

Make bubble hash with it, supposedly the spores are small enough to pass through all the screens so you can essentially wash the trichs.

Strain can make a difference too. While the plant is alive and healthy it can fight infections but some seem less able to resist than others. I would guess that strain makes little difference if you have too high humidity in and around the buds while drying.

So the spores pop up during the drying process?? What happens if you smokes this?? Yeah its prob the strain type, my buds very seldomly do this and this plant is perfect too except the mold. No leaves, big yield, etc..

When this plant was in flower the avg temp was prob 75 degrees and avg humidity was 70-75 %, I just have a humid basement and I have central air down there too. With no central air my basement would be low 80's and humidity would be 80%

Reading online many of grow houses that were raided had all sorts of mold on there buds. I will just not use that strain anymore I guess even though it was perfect... I guess mold is just about everywhere.

That's too high in flower or drying/curing. Look to get it in the 40's for flower and 60-65ish during finale curing.

Theres no way I can get it below 70% in the summer and in the winter its around 65%... This is basically the strain or plant I've had this happen. Also I have lots of air movement in my tents.

A good dehumidifier from Amazon is like $199 for a 4000 sq ft house. I have one of these in my 600 sq ft grow, and it works great. I gotta dump it twice a day for a total of 6 gallons every 12 hours, and the humidity is not as high as yours. Plus, I have a 2 ton Carrier mini split trying to dry it out to 48-50%.. transpiration is a real deal. You'll need to dehumidify 70% of what you water on top of the fact that you have a humid basement, and that alone will trap a lot of humidity... it has nowhere to go, and it will stay trapped in your buds, making the drying process even longer, and more tedious.

Do you run you're dehumidifier 24/7?? Mine would have to run 24/7 to get humidity below 60%

Yes. I run it 24/7, along with the 2 ton Carrier AC unit. It stays around 48% at this time. It does shut of automatically when the tank gets full (3 gallons I believe), I dump it 3-4 times a day now as the plants are getting bigger and more watering going on.

Probably spores from mold yes, but could also be pollen from an intersex plant. What color is the “smoke”? Pollen is yellow, spores are white black or gray.

If it’s mold cut out out all of it and throw it away. If it’s pollen, smoke it!

I have a small cheapo dehumidifier that will keeps my basement at 60% no problem. I usually have to dump it like twice a day, but most will have a drain line somewhere that you can just put into a sump hole or something and never have to manually empty the tank.

If your basement is big you could isolate your grow area with a wall or something and a smaller dehumidifier should work for the smaller space.

So basically everyone is running these dehumidifiers all the time?? I think I will set mine at 65%, next house will be a basement with a humidity under 60% all seasons..... The funny thing is I never get mold, so it must just be the strain..
