QB96 Elite V2 w/ SSTX heatsink question

BTW, excess far red, triggering shade avoidance syndrome, can, just like in nature, be a benefit.

For example, during late veg when plant structure is developed and you want to minimize time getting to 12:12 ht, or when there are major height diffs between plants headed for same 12:12 start.

Another question for you @Randomblame, the 96s have a healthy blue peak vs the 288s (larger red, of course).

How do you think these 96s would do for veg? Would supplementing w blue do much? If so, what would you recommend?

thanks man.

60w?! lol no thanks - i'd get horrid bleach and loads of heat. i dont run Co2 and im at ~850ppfd with 35w...
Not the case everywhere...but 850 is looking good at your place...you’re gonna kick some ass with those 660’s, add in a little far red during lights on, and then take advantage for a few mins in lightsoff....then start brewing some beer in there...

i think 60 is WAY too much either way, but each to their own, man.
Yep, to each his own...

Nice to have when you need it, nice on the electric bill when you don’t...

Kinda depends on training approach, setup, ambient conditions, etc....

660 without 730-740, is like milk w/o cookies...or maybe vice versa...still working on that part...

Btw, if you don’t add fr, i’d be interested in hearing what you think before vs after adding 660s...even if just subjective opinion, from grower like you, would be useful...

will let ya know for sure, man. most likely wont get FR right away
Perfect, then you can consider doing a virtual side-by-side: same strains & conditions, w & w/o fr, at diff times...i guarantee you will see measurable diffs...

For any asshat who thinks that these 96s won’t work in a tent, i have some news for yous....

Beginning with at least two 96s you can laydown the full range of propagation, veg, and flowering intensities upto and beyond 1000ppfd, EVENLY, across multiple standard size tent footprints upto who knows what size.

Running 600-800watts at the wall, between 18-24” above plant tops, with enuff built-in deep red spectrum to create a large 660nm peak, you can evenly spread 1000+ppfd across a 4x4 footprint.

This can be done with 4 to 6 boards, at multiple height-wattage combinations between 120-240w/96 and at 18-24”.

This is state-of-the-art capability, in a small, reasonably-priced package.

Imo, almost any tent owner, would be happy with these lights...pop a couple dozen far reds in there with them and some co2, and a good grower with the right strains could get 2g/watt easy, close to 3-4 lbs.

Here are the last set of maps that i plan on making; these for six 96s in a 4x4.

Update on that tboneshuffle plant:

“Day 40 since flip. These qb96's are causing some massive early development. This is a 9-10 week strain and that's not from day of flip usually. Subtract a week at least for flower initiation. Basically half done. I can't imagine what these are going to look like at 9 weeks.”
