Next thing to do is to put a piece of wood behind it when you are drilling. If that doesnt work then its just the type of plastic, ive had some that just split and crack no matter what you do.

Yes indeed ! I think its that kind of rubbish i have too.. Because i tried the drilling with wood & carton in which the boxes were shipped.
My second drilling attempt i even started drilling with a smaller drill first but that also sucked.
Also my room is way to crowded, can't get easily to the back of it. So bigger tent in the future or smaller set up :D
All is tightened up now, i'm gonna let i dry some hours and when i'm back from school i'm going for a test run, long time i was excited so much.

Like i said , i'm having a big tube with 2.5m² of this :

But it makes only sense to put it over everything after i tested the waterproof-ness.

I bought a hole saw to do it properly in the beginning. With a pilot like you mention, i tried it 2times but its even the pilot that makes the plastic crack. So that was the reason why i went soldering.
Then i thought about a schoolproject where i had to make a big air pressure cannon. With pvc glue all went good under 2bar. Only higher bars made the pvc glue burst. So me was thinking, water pressure will be less then 2bar so it shouldn't be a big problem. Well, we shall see. I think i test it tonight already !

If it doesnt work, i still can buy new strong containers and then i'll do it with the uniseals & drill like my original plan was.
I'm telling you right now, save yourself the headache. Scrap your build and start over. Those tubs are GOING to buldge and crack over time and you will 100% have leaks with just silicone holding the pipes in. It 100% is not going to work my friend.

Purchase black or white and spray paint black some 4gal square buckets or get some totes you wanna use but make SURE they're black. Also use thick white PVC or even better Black ABS piping this time too. At LEAST 2" WIDE. And if you can't find any bulkheads whatsoever, do what @fragileassassin did to makeshift his bulkheads. He will post a link to it.

Fragile, go to the post that shows the pics, reply to it with something like a period or whatever. Then click the arrow in the top of the quoted box after the posters name(you). That takes you to the exact post so copy and paste the URL at that point and it'll take him right to it.

You're gonna pull your fuckin hair out when you go to fill the setup up and have water leaking all over the place.

If you are DIY savvy and have the tools to properly cut the threaded part with, this is what I used. I will be using them again tomorrow or saturday when the buckets for my veg setup show up. They sell them in 1.5" and 2"

If it helps any, I had to change my entire drain and feed setup on my system. I was just lucky and started too small + transparent and was able to make the holes I had already drilled in my totes bigger for my new fittings.

I used these ABS trap adapters as bulkheads. At the big chain stores theyre pretty damn cheap... cheaper than uniseals from what ive seen. This picture is about the most you can screw the nut on because it has a built in crush washer thing to help it seal on the end of the fitting, so I cut all the threaded parts in half with my miter saw. It only took me like 10-15 mins to cut all 26. This allowed them to tighten all the way down to the flat edge meaning they would get tight on the box. I cut my holes slightly smaller and they worked out perfect. I gave both sides a good bit of silicone then had to force the threads through the hole and twist. They actually threaded into the boxes like this. From there I just tightened the nut on to the inside and smoothed out any oozing silicone.

How big is your control bucket and what size return lines do you have?
Mine is a 55 gallon HDX tote with 2 2" returns.

Oh boy :p decided to fill it up before school. What a misery
After school immediately to the shop , better buckets & i'll look again for those uniseals or that what you mentioned.
Low water level was fine, but when filling it whole up :p lol

Man.. I wanna help Ya but it seems like you're not paying attention. You don't just buy uniseals at the store, man. The bulkheads you do.

Also @fragileassassin I meant like this.

But you were close enough ;)

Heavy day, i know you want to help ! Thanks for that, but i just wanted to try it out myself before ripping all in pieces.
So i went to the store and with the black friday things etc i found cheap boxes. ( black ones )
Bought 2 of them because they looked stronger then my ones.
Also found this in the shop and decided to give it a try, it was the only decent thing i found after doing alot of research.

So went home again to test it out. And guess what ! Drill worked perfectly , and those rubbers too.. ( filled up one box full with water and no leaks )
I drove back and bought 6 more boxes & all those rubbers.
Sadly i ruined 1 box by putting to much pressure on it while getting the rubber in. ( since they are very hard to get in , but found the trick now )
Most of my tubes i can re-use so i will ( they are 4cm btw)
And my previous covers also seem to match the boxes more or less.

After rain comes sun :D

After testing my shitty set up, it seemed that 2boxes didn't got the waterfall of my pump. ( the water didn't pumped that far )
Any idea on how to fix this ?

My 2 airpumps seemed to worked fine though.
And also found the piece i needed to get my RO next to my washing machine.
As you probably found out, i'm not diy savvy , not at all. But by doing you learn afcorse..

The only sucky thing is , my tent i still under water lol.
But because of my pond foil, it can't do harm. That's work for the girlfriend :D

Warm up the rubber in boiled water for a few minutes and then use 50% water and 50% liquid dish soap to lube up with. That helps get that pipe in a lot.
And also, bevel the ends of your pipes. File them down or sand them so they're a good long angle so you can push them in easier.

Something like this but I suggest even more of an angle than shown here:

Good tips , i needed them lol.
Not that easy and hard work to get all in. My hands are torn.

I know the middle one has a strange position, but couldn't change it anymore.
Tomorrow testing again. This time without the bubblings en waterfalls in case of failure.
And the ducktape is only for my pond foil

Why are your connecting pipes grey colored?? I'm really surprised you found those rubber seals. I've never seen anything lie that before in a hardware store. Hope they work out for you man.

Grey was the cheapest, we have black grey & white.
And i had those tubes from previous attempt. Didn't had to buy something else :D
Yes i was also surprised, after long looking found it.
I'm hoping too :D

The way you plumbed this thing is crazy man.... Why didn't you take some time to check out pictures. I know you're excited to build a system. We've all been there. But slow down a bit before you jump the gun on stuff you're going to buy and how you're going to do it.

When drilling thin plastic like that with a hole saw, you will need to have one that has a pilot bit in the middle of it that sticks out further. You have to fully commit and run your drill fast and apply light pressure to cut through. Going too slow will cause the teeth of the holesaw to catch and dig into the plastic, this is usually when itll rip a chunk out or crack it.
Another trick I've used is to allow the pilot bit to drill though the plastic and then run the drill in reverse. The pilot keeps it centered and running it backwards prevent the teeth from digging in.

Its basically the same. Only that i have 3rows, which needs T-pieces. And i wanted my reservoir in the middle where i could easily go to for nutrient adding & EC measurements.
I also wanted a full circle of recirculation.
Just tested the new setup out, putted 70l in total in my buckets. With steps of 10l added in 1bucket to see if it circulates smoothly.
Seems that it works nicely. Only bummer that i have some small leaks on my tubings. That's because i had to glue them in the tent with not much space, so sometimes couldn't give hard pressure on them.

I'm really worried for you man. Something's telling me those connections will fail and you're gonna have a nightmare on your hands. I really wish you'd order at least some uniseals if not actual bulkheads.

I've put 30liters more in it. And seems to hold it fine. Only those 2 small drips on my tubes themselves, i've already pumped the water out so i'm trying to fix that tonight.
The rubbers are doing a good job apparantly.. And or the money i paid, it better do lol
