Growing in unheated garage

maybe wall in a smaller area for your tents? move them to a corner, and run a few studs vertically, don't even have to sheetrock, just a double layer of heavy plastic stapled to the studs would make the area you have to heat much smaller

I looked in the posts, but might have missed it. Did you put a 2" foam board or anything on the floor of the tent?
Not yet but I'm going to Home Depot later to get some. I'll just pull the plants out and slide it under the tent.

imo, I'd put it in place of your 1x2's. Set the plywood on that, then your liner. Also, You can get a 1" 4x8 foam board and cut it in half to have 2". I'm sure you thought of that though.

The tent is in a corner so two sides are up against the walls. But my main concern was keeping the grow medium warm. The plant's were in the correct temperature but the soil was much colder from sitting on the cold concrete pad.

The funny thing is that in the summer I'm trying to keep it cool. Last summer I didn't even run anything during the hottest part. The plants I would have flowered on schedule I left outside to veg longer. I had to supercrop almost daily to keep them in check and when I got them in the tent to flower I had to max out the height of the light.

So bottom line is that growing in a garage without heating or cooling provides different challenges at different times of the year. I would like to move the flower tent inside but I already have a 2' x 4' veg tent in my office. We have a three bedroom house but we sleep in one, the other is my girls hobby room and the other is setup as a guest room as we often have family and friends staying over. I'm lucky to have a small alcove attached to the bedroom to use as an office. When I grabbed a corner of the garage my girls wasn't happy. She didn't know I bought a tent until she saw it setup.

Yeah, I got in some trouble for it. The only thing that saved me was getting some chores done that I had been putting off for months. I don't think I've ever worked so hard and fast to get something done.
you realize your old lady wasn't mad at all, she was in the window, smiling at you working your ass off to do all the stuff shes wanted done for months....and you provided her the spur

Women. As long as I get to do what I want I'm happy. As long as I do what she wants, she's happy. I'm happy if she's happy and all that.
They have a great way of making us do what they want.

don't feel bad, i'm limited in my growing times tooo. Especially in the closet i use. Summers to hot, winters sometimes a little too cool.....so i have to watch my grow timing and how i do it.. It's always a new challegen every year for me....but for some goofy reason i always pull through.....you'd be surprised on how harty plants are in the cool/warm arenas.....

I'll kiss some ass to ensure that I get some ass. I'm proud but not that proud. Some things are worth a little ass kissing.
yeah that's true......i'm in the process of doing the same for a little upgrade myself......showed the wife what i wanted....she looked at me and said "better pucker up" an walk away...gotta love her

We have already discussed that you are weak at both growing and science, ya you can grow but your input and pics here do very little but create argument.

Ya growing in a cold room can be done, is it advisable....No, does mere underfloor heating bring you back up to the temperate conditions needed.....No. Does extraction extract heat.....Yes.

You are left with shortcuts, run low extraction, conserve heat, pay loads for heating a tent every cycle and so forth.....

Add somthing or stop being argumentative :-)
Too many people growing, not enough knowing.
I studied and read up on growing for years before my 1st grow. Also working briefly in a plant nursery helped. If you're going to drop thousands on grow equipment you should definitely read up and study a bit on plant science and some cannabis grow books. This forum is a fountain of knowledge also. Good luck xtsho, you'll get it done.

Pay loads for heating? Only heater I run is my light apart from maybe less than a month in the middle of winter were I run a small oil heater in the room the grow tents are in the unheated uninsulated garage. Garage is just to big to justifie heating for a small grow. Its probably bigger than your council flat.
If you are unable to grow in anything other than a perfect environment then don't be upset when others manage it. Cannabis is not hard to grow its just finding workable solutions for those that need them. I see what some think is extreme heat and also cold and I just keep chugging through it.

Ive found bigger pots help keep the roots at a better temp during lights out.
If your running sealed hood/s then remove them in winter and replace if needed in summer.

Ya but extreme heat is awful for growing bud. Even if you manage, you're doing just that, managing. Honestly extreme heat and extreme cold are quite literally the worst conditions for growing bud. You'll inhibit your yields, trichome production and overall quality of bud.
