Obviously, the president of the United States threatening to punish a private company for making a decision based on market realities that are partially his fault is . . . really something! But the whole thing takes on some extra hilarity when you realize, for the 927th time this year, what this not-at-all-smart guy is unintentionally proposing. As Dan Primackpoints out, subsidies for G.M.-specific electric vehicles do not exist. Rather, there are industry-wide federal tax credits of up to $7,500 available for purchasers of U.S. electric cars, with “aggregate caps of 200,000 vehicles per manufacturer.” In other words, getting rid of the subsidy in its current form would hurt both American consumers and other auto manufacturers.

if we buy a chevy truck do we get a hat with choice of color..red or black?

Wouldn't it be better if people who make trade interactions do so on a mutual and consensual voluntary basis, to avoid the above scenario? In a free market voluntary trade both parties benefit or they wouldn't make the trade would they ?

Steam locomotives look and sound much cooler than diesel electric traction but that didn't save them, either.

For what it's worth, I agree with you- and I'm a two time Pikes Peak Hill Climb attendee, back when the road was still dirt, like God and Zebulon Pike intended.

Progress; We cross our fingers and hope the tradeoffs are worthwhile.

Tesla’s Gigafactory 3 is starting to attract the interest of China’s workforce


The development and progress of Gigafactory 3 has been remarkable so far, thanks in part to the Chinese government’s support for the project. Over the past months, state media has run multiple segments about how the state fully supports the construction of the factory. This support became quite evident when China made the rare decision to allow Tesla to become the sole owner of Gigafactory 3. The electric car maker’s bid for the 864,885-square meter plot of land in Shanghai’s Lingang area went unchallenged by any rival bidders as well. Apart from these, low-interest loans from local banks were also secured quickly, with local news site Beijing Business Daily noting that around 30% of the facility’s funds have been ready since October......

There is no license to build it. There was only a tentative agreement, much like the so-called car factory.

He hasn't even bought the land to build either project on, let alone secured building permits to do so. The reason: Tesla doesn't have the money.
