Best light on the market ?

All of us are showing electric usage reductions from switching to LEDs. I just wanted to "raise the bar" on the quality of my grows. And it most definitely has. Terps and Trichome production has both increased by going to COBs.
And 1 more thing,
I have no so called "larf" from COBs, unlike what I was getting using HPS lights.
Cause they are lower powered lights with no spread is why you report electric savings and better growth.

Most have agreed for years they dont yeild more and that they struggle to penetrate due to lack of spread bouncing back in off tent walls etc etc etc

Anything new to say? :-)

Then it's not the best for you. Which is all most of us are saying. If you're not worried about heat or power, don't switch. But don't also claim LED is crap. Not that I'm saying you're saying it's crap.
How is a hps even that hot, its not really an efficient heater of air and yes the ligh feels hot under it because thatsxwhat plants like and what drives growth.

I havent got enough tin foil hats for everyone so some of you gonna have to share :-)

I was like you 3 years ago when I first started building these lights. 1st purchased a Blurple and I was not impressed. Sounds to me like you had a "bad" experience with LEDs. Then on the "other" hand, people say you don't even grow,That's what I have to say.

I'll let the other LED fanatics slice you apart. I already understand you and your type.

I never have and never will say LED's are crap. There is nothing wrong with the latest LED's out there. They grow great weed. They are just way overpriced. It's like buying the latest phone which I never do. I always wait a year or two for the price to drop. The thing is that LED's are not following that model. The prices are not really budging and in some cases are going up. The good thing for many people is the price of HID is coming down. You can get a 1000 watt HPS setup for around $200. I don't think even LED growers will dispute the fact that a 1000 Watt HPS won't rock your shorts off with a good grow. So as LED's drive the price of HID's down more people will be able to afford a decent light.

My only real issue with decent LED's is the price. The cheap ones are just garbage so they shouldn't even be included in any serious LED discussion. The high end ones are 100% legitimate.

I totally agree. I'm having a hard time deciding which way to go. CMH 315w or LED. I can't find a price I like in LED, but HID may mean having to do some costly electrical work.

CMH is something I've looked at as well. I like all the options.

Another thing I'm looking at is supplementing my 2 x 4 veg tent. The 4 bulb HO T5 is great but I need more light. I don't want to try and cram another 4 bulb fixture in. Don't think I can anyway but I don't want to buy an 8 bulb fixture. LED strips on both sides would work perfectly.

I didnt say plants cant grow without it i said it plants grow better with it and that it creqtes a superior spectrum than just taking the higher number ppfd, somthing that use to be well known but feels like weve gone backwards since leds turned up and confused the newer growers.

Its why i find the hps spectrum and cmh to be better weighted and fuller, leds are light years behind here are then the spectrum shift of multi point low wqttqge diodes is far more troublesome than a high wattage singke point.

You just dont want to admit the obvious flaws of leds :-)
You're hilarious. Did you have traumatic experience with an LED as a child?

@Hybridway likes'm all! https://www.rollitup.org/t/led-vs-hps-growing.949980/page-42#post-14604580

Yeah, the strips are so small, they're great for supplemental light. I hung a Bridgelux EB in each corner by the wires, no heat sink.

LEDs aren't some type of magical light, they burn out just like any other lighting source that's why they have rated hours just like bulbs do.
I have a clock from the 80s that uses leds to display the time (7-segment digits). How many more years do you think I'll have to wait until they burn out? Why haven't they burned out yet? Under driving basically will make them last forever. My vero 18 setup from 2014 worked up until 2017 when I upgraded the chips to gen 7 for 100 bucks.

Lot's of nice pictures of great bud grown using LED's. There are plenty of grows as good using HID. Both work great.

In the end it comes down to the grower. It's not really a legitimate contest. People that spend the money for the good high end LED's are typically those that know how to grow.

Kind of like the pictures they use as descriptions for seeds. The pictures look great but unless you know what you're doing the light you use isn't going to give you plants that look that good. It's going to take some knowledge to get there regardless of light.

Since when did posting pics become a contest?
I don't think not 1 of us said you couldn't grow high quality with HPS.
We are all previous HPS users.
Should we start saying, use LEDs only with a 2, 3, 5? years experience? lol
A "warning" label. lol
