Noob questions regarding cob/blurples

which ones? looks like some blues and reds maybe? and are these single diodes that you are using with solder, etc?
Just Rapid LED solderless stars with the majority of them being photo red HE and red, out of the 36 diodes there are 4 uv, 4 hyper uv and 5 far reds with a total of 6 bars with each 3 bars powered by an LPC-35 700. Stars are all drilled and tapped so I can easily switch the diode's out to experiment with the spectrum's.

so which light fixture do you prefer? in that first pic you posted, are all those plants the same strain? if so, could you tell the difference in trichs and smoke quality of one light vs the other?

There is a mix of strains with the left being GG#4 and a single Cherrylemon haze. The right had 1 GG#4 and a Cherrylemon haze. As far as quality goes both did the trick but the left held a slight edge in overall appearance and quality of high.

yes HUmple! that's exactly what i was looking for. and not too expensive either. thank you.
27 bucks is kinda high. For just added red. If it was me. I would just get some star boards. And put em together yourself. If your using strips those red arent gonna be enough to do anything. Unless you run all those strips. You can make a far red initiator light for under 20 bucks. If that's what you're talking about. If not dont mind my post lol. Butcheck out growmau5 YouTube he shows you how to make one for under 20 bucks

I'll post these again as most have seen them already.

Left is 9 f-series strips @ 3k powered by a hlg-240h-24b with 70 watts of supplemental diodes ran pulling 270 watts from the wall.
Right is 9 f-series strips in a mix of 3k,3.5k and 4k on another 240h driver pulling 268 watts from the wall.
The left pulled 18 oz in a 3x4 area with 6 plants, I don't remember what the exact numbers for the right side but it was around 12 oz but only had 4 plants in a 3x3 area.
As far as penetration, here is the lowers on the plants on the right.View attachment 4249601 View attachment 4249602
I prefer the 4ks over 3ks myself. I found ththe same results. 4ks add more weight and trich production.

Goddamnit, which is better, 3K, 3.5K, 4K, 5K?
If you want help, try not to be so demanding. ;)
None of this is carved in stone, there is no single, absolutely correct answer. There are VARIABLES! For instance, best for what strain, etc. etc. etc.?
Most say there's little difference between 3000k to 4000k, and most run 3000k or 3500k.

Wow, really? You prefer 4K for weight while flowering? I'm going nuts here trying to decide between 3K, 3.5K, and 4K. I'm getting so much info, much of it conflicting, that I think it's time to smoke a bowl and contemplate things. I'm leaning toward mixing color temps almost out of sheer resignation. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I've flowered with both. The 4ks out performed the 3ks. In both weight and frost. In my tents. Doesnt mean itll be the same for you. Everyone grows different. The 4ks are really only 3850k I believe.

Do a mixed spectrum. Use some of both or all 3. The first light I built I used all 3k. The second light I built I used all 4k. 3rd light is both 3ks and 4ks

Gotcha. Thanks in, uh, post-advance. Strangely, the second paragraph of your reply didn't show until quoted in the reply window. Long ago after a hardware failure I was forced to flower under a MH instead of HPS. I was warned that the world would come to an end and the ghost of baby Jebus would flood my grow in his sweet n' salty tears, but in reality it turned out awesome, perhaps better than HPS. That's likely because I was developing as a grower, tho - I've reasoned that grower skill and environment tend to trump things like color temp and nutrients in most cases.

Those big ol' nugs pictured in post #27.....what strain is that?

Keep up the great work, you're a regular three-fisted badass. I nominate you for Secretary of the Interior. You know what plants crave :)

Cookies n Chem from greenpoint. That was my first run. Under all 3k.

2nd n 3rd run under all 4ks
As you can see different cct bring out different pheno expressions as well. Under all 3k and reds she stayed green. Under 4ks she turned purplish black. And she yielded almost 22 grams more. Same pot, same everything. Only difference was all 4k strips and no 660nm reds.

i wonder what the 4K with the 660 would produce?
Only one way to find out. I have 20 or so 660nm starboards I'm gonna add to the 4k light. But they will be H inFlux_L06 strips instead of fb562b strips. Bc I'm not using the all 4k light. Its setting in the closet. I'm running the mixed 3ks and 4ks now. I'll either pull it out and toss it in the closet and put the L06s in that tent. Or put up another tent. Jus depends on room. I'll have to rearrange to put up another tent. .
