Seed prices, is it me?

Okay so I've been lurking around on the seed banks and noticed that since the more legal it becomes, the pricing has been going nuts.

I've seen pricing on some sites for say ak47 or Acapulco gold that were $50 usd for a 5 pack have gone up to OVER $150 usd. So my question is this....

Is it me or have seed prices been getting stupidity high in the last few months?

Seed prices in my opinion have came down largely for the most part. Companies like sensi seeds and serious seeds have always been charging $200-$300 seed packs according to the hype they'd create through high times way back in 2000-2004 era and beyond.

But back then only really nirvana and KC brains were $20 for 10 beans. Now there are a lot of people selling seeds in the $20 for 10 range.

That is because Karma is based out of Spain so it will cost more here in America vs at an over seas seed bank. But they do jack it up a bit though. Gotta charge more for those foreign beans so people will buy domestic, lol.

Even Archive is a little cheaper on Attitude compared to Neptune Seedbank.

I got a good place I go to called buzz on packs of 3 seeds feminized for 25$ or 30$ depending on the strain I got white widow fast for 30$ Canadian

Seed prices are wayyyyy too high. The price of weed is so cheap and dropping but seeds are going up it seems. You can get dank for $1 a gram but seeds $20-$30 per seed! Like foh

And you guys perpetuate it by paying these prices. Capitalism literally ruins everything in life.
Remember wide gene pools? Pure sativas?
Trading convo and gifting friends beans like the good ole days. The love is being sucked out of it
and I can’t say I’m surprised. Greed is the downfall of humanity.

Gold at the time of this posting is currently $1240.87 an oz, or $39.89 a gram ($1240.87/31.1035=$39.89). I weighed out 1 gram of seeds. It took 54 seeds, using a mix of Cannaventure, Bodhi, Useful, Hazeman, and Brisco's Bargain Beans. So a seed weighs roughly 1/50 of a gram. 1/50 of a gram of gold is $39.89/50=$0.7989.

If you're paying more than 80 cents a seed, you're seeds are worth more than their weight in gold. That said, I have no problem with the prices of the seeds I buy.

Gold is useless. I would argue seeds are worth a lot more than gold. Seeds have value.

I agree in some cases, but I just got 5 BlackBerry Gum fems for under $18 us including delivery from Seed Stockers

On the other side of the coin consider ILGM, their already somewhat lofty prices just went through the roof! I hope their sales decline until they stop gouging people

I recommend everyone chuck some pollen. I'm just finishing up my first seed run since the 90s so I'm going to be all set for a while, interested to see what I've made

The only thing I plan to pay full price for is Cali Connection la og affie because it's OG Rascals Afghani, I grew it for years but lost the cut recently, it's about the only thing I would pay top dollar for cuz its excellent smoke!

Not to derail things (too much) but I don't understand your puzzling comment on "capitalism ruins everything" . How?

So you're not in favor of a free market where both buyers and sellers are able to make free choices about what they buy and sell ?

Aren't you STILL able to gift seeds or clones to people if that's what you want to do?

Aren't you free to gather genetics and peacefully out compete the "too expensive guys" ?

Capitalism is the reason people charge through the roof for their seeds instead of a reasonable price. You’re obviously missing the definition of capitalism, I’m not against buying and selling seeds. I’ve spent thousands on seeds in my lifetime and never was I just gifted seeds, I got freebies once I spent money yes. I’m not even expecting anything free in this world, just reasonable prices. A breeder can make 10,000+ seeds a batch! They can still make decent money and not rape us for it.

And one of you comparing gold to seeds..you need help seriously. They’re just seeds that can be made in unlimited quantities, gold isn’t a renewable resource. Anyway..good morning

Not capitalism, simple economics: Supply and Demand. Currently demand has outstripped supply. Supply will eventually catch up and prices will fall.

However, marketing may successfully keep some vendors into the high priced category. ILGM is an example of a vendor that very successfully targets ignorant would-be growers and sells them dreams instead of seeds.

Making 10k seeds and selling 10k seeds is a different story. I've lost money every time i made seeds instead of flower. I've also risked my freedom. Some people dont have those issues. I guess you could argue if I whored myself out to all the seedbanks I could sell a lot of seeds. Plenty will rip you off.
My beans are also made with plants that took five years to create the genepool I use. Everyones situation is different I guess.
