need lighting!!!

okay so I have a 2'x5'x8' closet,

wanting to run it as a flower room

I have an HLG 135w QB that I'm wanting to veg with.

so my question is what light(s) can I run in there to give me a great footprint, height is not an issue nor is airflow.

budget is 400$ and I am not savvy in building lights so all light will have to be DIY kits ot complete lights.

I am interested in QBs COBs or any lights that WILL produce... not some Mars hydro junk.

The 260w QB kit will flowers a 2x4 very nicely and fits nicely into your budget. That extra foot of width in your space might mean some ppfd dropoff in the edges.

well i was thinking about just using that extra foot to put my humidifier or dehumidifier in or maybe a res for droppers down the line

If i had the extra space and the height I'd love to run one of those, but I'd never be able to get it far enough above the canopy. Sadface.

I have 8 ft of plant height, I actually though about a CMH but there so new I know nothing about them they scare me! lol

Hot and high. I won't quote exact figures because I've never run one, but they are in the same neighborhood as hps/mh from what I've read.

reason I ask is because I dont ser any active cooling I can do with that hood

Buy another 135 QB and call it a day ....

You can veg with the single and add the other for flower , then keep both working for next run.

The ballast & bulb (to me) put out less heat than a 400wMH bulb. In my veg tent I have 3-4ft clearance, in the flower tent 20in.

but would HIDs work in a 2 ft depth closet? feel like the walls might catch on fire lol I mean its 5 feet wide and 8 feet high with a 4 inch fan and filter

I don't know about 2ft....but here's mine.
Flower tent 4x8. One plant right now under 2x315 CMG, 20 inches above tops. In 2 weeks I'll be flowering another girl annd switching on another 315, so I'll have 2 plants 5 weeks apart in perpetual flower under 2x315 3100K & 1x315 4100K


Not as hot as you'd think, my hand is warm not hot, but I'd never put a plant this close

It would be the footprint that lets that option down. Better in a 3x3.

man I think I might just get a meizhi 600watt LED or a rapid LED 220w cob kit if I'm feeling balsy.

man all this looking up lights shut is getting old I'm just trying to produce at least 4-6 oz off each plant running 3-4 plants in my 2x5x8

so I think my best bet is just going mars hydro or meizhi 450-600watt blurple light to add with my HLG 135watt qb

I just dont want light airy buds like cfls man, been there done that

Just buy another HLG 135w qb...

Yeah I second that, if you can live with lighting up 4x2 of your space you only need another 135w QB.
Its not complicated.

Yeah don't try to flower the whole area. Leave yourself enough room that you can get inside the room and close the door and do a little work.

I'm in my second grow room now. My first one I couldn't get inside of and I noticed a lot of the smell of the house came from when I would have the door open messin w plants.

Go with the QB’s with at least 40 watts per square foot
Will make heat management a breeze
