Are these too small?

I'm only looking to do 3 plants at a time, max. Are those options in my price range? (Thanks again for the advice/time)
Sadly no most are going to be beyond your range. It’s why I suggested hps as it’ll be cheap enough and will give you some quality from the time and money your spending on those plant. My babies get about 200ish watts from my t5 before they get swapped under my qb and cmh lights.

Well i put together a 18 cxb1830 fixture that pulls 500ish watts from the wall (these are cobs). With drivers, holders, cables, heatsinks, led chips and all, it cost me 250. Keep in mind i live in a different country than yours and when look at the same chips from mouser, i see they are priced at 50% higher than what i paid. But in either case, yeah if you’re handy, you can get a fixture of about 250watts and maybe more with that price range.
Also there are qbs at that ranges, check HLG’s site or look up on amazon.
What are qbs? Forgive my ignorance.

So I guess my question is, what's the proplem with the light I posted, if it's 250ish (actual) watts? Is it just poor build quality? It's full spectrum.

Those cheap amazon type leds are what give leds a bad name they simply don’t have the power. Plus if I recall the light is barely 100 watt.

I posted this somewhere else, but I bought a Bestva 1000 and a Viparspectra 450 Dimmable, which is a total of a little over 400 actual watts, or is supposed to be. When I first plugged them in, the Bestva was clearly a more powerful light, but its light was real red. I thought that might be a plus for flowering, but I wasn't entirely sure. Anyways, after growing for a while with them, the Viparspectra is clearly a superior light as compared to the Bestva. I don't know how to explain it other than to say, "it just seems like cleaner light." The plants underneath it always do better. No way I'd ever buy another Bestva light. I would buy another Viparspectra, though. The thing is you can get a HPS light for what you pay for one. The reason I haven't gone that route--YET--is because it's going to run the electric bill up, and after seeing how much the Bestva heats up my grow space, I'm not even in the position to deal with the heat an HPS fixture is gonna cause.

Interesting. I was JUST looking at a 600w viparspectra that draws 230w. Do you recommend it? Im not trying to go crazy. I'll be happy if I just get weed that gets me high lol.

You could probably do 2 decent plants with that light. I would try to go just a little bit higher and keep the other light too. Is that an option?

While I don't use LED yet, I do appreciate them and will eventually convert when I can spare the money.

However hps does not cost that much to run. 200w from the wall is the same whether it is led or hps.

My 1k hps and it's single cooling fan cost $30 a month to run. Heat isnt an issue at all in the winter, I actually unhook my exhaust and recirculate it for warmth. In the summer it never gets over 83 at the hottest but is usually about 79.

With the air cooled hood it's pretty simple to cool.

Led produces heat too, that's just part of growing.

Yeah but the efficieny is better with leds for sure and for small spaces they just rock. He has a 2x4 for example, odd shape. So 1 fixture would be useless in this occasion. He needs 2 315 cmh to get an even distribution or something like that.

I'm not trying to convert him or anyone LED is definitely got a better spectrum, and is more efficient. I wouldn't run less wattage because its more efficient though, at least not much less. I would rather the plants get their max then lower my electric bill. Like I said I only pay $30 a month for 1000watts of love.

I agree about the space being weird, 2 315s would be awesome.

I'd like to get some money for the one I have, if I could. It might be a bit of a struggle to get both to fit in the tent too. I'll definitely consider it.

In Michigan I can tell you it’ll be a hard sell on leds. I had some kind xl1000’s I had sitting from some time ago it took me a full year to off load them at 400 a piece. And this cost about 1600 or so a pop. Depending on your location I’d the further north the hard the sell.

You might be right. Might be able to get 50 for it. I'm banking on everyone looking for lights, now that it's legal.
