I will be doing my first grow outside in Georgia. I plan on germinating indoors in cups. My question is when would be the best time to start both germination and planting in soil? GG4 and GSC

Depending on daylight. Here in central CA I plant in ground Easter weekend because I don’t use feminized seeds. The reason being is the plants will show their sex quicker because the hours of daylight are still low enough for the plants to want to bloom but since it’s staying lighter longer each day it never fully goes into flower so I can quickly sex my plants. Otherwise mid to later May would be my start time.

You don’t want to plant outside in the southeastern US until mid-may. This is based on no danger of frost and having enough hours of daylight so your young plants don’t waste energy trying to flower and then re-vegging.
As to when to germinate that depends on your setup. I tend to germinate 2-4 weeks before moving the plants outside. I’ll then transplant the young plants into bigger pots and put those outside mid-may until they are big enough to be put in the ground.
I prefer growing pure indica strains that finish early (mid-September) and that don’t get too big. You can grow sativa strains in the SE US (the growing season is plenty long enough) but I prefer to keep my grow as short as possible so I stick with indicas. I also like it that indicas stay small compared to sativas which can grow to be 12’ or more tall.

While waiting to move outdoors what time schedule of lights do you grow the young plants under? 18/6 or 12/12? It seems to me that if you start off at 18/6 and then move them outside where you are getting 12 hours of sun it would force them into flower and then possibly reveg

I did this last year. If the plants are still Smaller seedings they will monster crop out.

First you need to know what your growing zone is, from there you can find out your growing season. You can go from there as to when to start your seeds.
You'll also have to harden off your seedlings before going outdoors full time.

What do you mean by harden off seeding?

You only need to to do this if you don't have a window and use only T-5's

Thank you sir and everyone that replied. By the chart I should plant indoors and germinate seed around mid April and veg under 14hr lighting until mid May and then transplant in ground until harvesting around mid October. Does this sound about right?

That should work. No frost!

Yup. Although when you harvest has more to do with the strain you are running. Pure indica strains finish earlier around mid to late September. Sativa dominant strains finish later, late October to even mid November. The limiting factor for how long you can go till harvest is the first frost, which in most of the SE US is mid November.
