1. The Prep: we will need the following:
a. 91% ISO Alcohol
b. “work bag” (jam strainer or possibly bubble bag work bag)
c. Approx. 6 collection containers (depending on how many washes)
d. Paper coffee filters
e. Metal coffee filter
f. 3 pyrex dishes (depending on how many washes)
g. Parchment paper
h. Product!
2. The Freeze: add all of the following to the freezer overnight.
a. Product (lightly chopped and large steams removed)
b. Alcohol
3. The Wash
a. Have 3 collection containers ready, as well as the work bag and metal and paper coffee filters. Have 3 coffee filters inserted inside the metal coffee filter. Have this over a collection container.
b. Add ice cold alcohol to the product to cover just barely over the product, then add a small amount more.
c. Mix the product very lightly for approximately 30 seconds for the first wash.
i. SECOND WASH: mix lightly for 1 min.
ii. THIRD WASH: cover jar and shake vigorously for approx. 3 min **EXPERIMENTAL**
4. 1st Filter: Have a collection container with the metal coffee filter ready and then the work bag over that.
a. Pour the wash through the work bag and into the coffee filter covering the collection container.
b. Let all of the solution drain through the work bag, then squeeze as much of the solution out of the product as possible into the container.
c. Now add the filtered solution to the freezer and return to step 3.c.1 and .11.
d. Add all 3 washes to the freezer.
5. ALLOW TO CHILL FOR APPROX. 1 HOUR
6. 2nd Filtration: After all, three washes have been allowed to chill for at least 1 hour. Grab the paper and metal coffee filters, and one extra collection container.
a. Add 3 coffee filters to the metal coffee filter. Add this to the top of another collection container. Pour the wash through the filter combo. DO NOT FORCE OR SPEED UP THE PROCESS. Re add the filter and container to the freezer and allow to filter completely. This should take approx. 30 min.
b. Squeeze out the paper filters into the “Wash off” container.
c. Re-add the twice filtered solution to the freezer.
d. Repeat all of step 5 for the 2nd and 3rd wash solutions and leave all 3 solutions to freeze for approx. 3 hours.
7. 3rd Filtration: After all, three washes have been allowed to chill for at least 3 hours. Grab the paper and metal coffee filters, and one extra collection container and the 3 pyrex dishes.
a. Repeat steps 6.a through 6.b.
b. Add all 3 of the 3 times filtered washes to their own pyrex dish.
8. Evaporation: Will need a fan a small heating element also preferable to have an exit fan to outside.
a. Add the pyrex dishes to the heating element and the fan blowing over them to speed the evaporation process.
b. Wait 24 hours.
c. Check to see that ALL moisture has been removed from the final oil. If it seems to have more moisture let dry longer.
d. Use a razor to scrape hash/oil onto parchment paper and flatten.
e. Fold and re incorporate as desired. Weigh if desired… and dab away!
