600W vs 1000W - Bud QUALITY

In your personal experience, have you noticed a difference in bud QUALITY from 600 to 1000w hps? I would think the 1000 would more closely mimic the sun, thus increase overall quality.
Iknow the 1000w will yield more under correct conditions, that is of no concern. I want to talk strictly about the quality of the bud/plant.

Do they grow faster? Healthier? Stronger structures? Get denser? Increase fragrence? Trich production? Resin production? Potency?

Post up your findings/research!

I run both.
It is footprint size related, and that's it. The plants get the same amount of light (how close you put it to the plant), just more coverage with a 1000w.
It is the same because you don't run a 600 and a 1000 at the same height.

This is basically true for a good grower.

However I'd say it's easier to get "better bud" from a 1kw.

I started with 6x 600 watt fixtures. Switched to 1kw fixtures and saw a immediate and very noticable change. So have my friends gardens who did both.
600 watts grows fine bud, but it's generally smaller. Generally.

Moving to 1kw would probably drop humidity a bit which can play a role with your harvest, other than that you probably wont see much of a difference unless your 600 wasn't enough for your current size grow.


Genetics,temp/rh & air quality of the grow is mainly what i look for in determining flower quality.

Interesting. There were some heat issues (2x 1000w), so one 1000w was swapped with one 600w and its perfect temps (testing). A side by side test shall ensue! It would be nice if all things equal, the 600 produces in the same ballpark.

If you are going for quality, I'd swap out that 600 hps for a 600 mh and run a 1000w hps with a 600w mh.
Also, if you were using 2x1000w hps and swapped out for a 1000 and a 600 only because of heat issues, then you aren't going to have the same harvest you would have with the 2x1000 and control of the heat.
Just my opinion, but I don't know what footprint your are working with or anything.

I think both 600 and 1000w HPS are the same as far as quality but the 1000w will make for more bud and bigger buds.

If you want the best quality, try a metal halide for the last half of flowering. The buds won't get as big but resin production will be better due to the extra UV light. I like the Hortilux blue for that.

It's 4x8x8. 2 1000s had temps in the mid 90s. 1 1000 and 1 600 keep it between 80-82.

That sucks you can't run the 2x1000's.
The quality will be the same, the yield will be lower is all.

I have low ceiling height so 600’s are as high as i can go but 2 in a 3.5’ x 7’ area in blockbuster hoods is doing very well.

Increase venting = decrease temps. However you may need a humidifier?
But if you could evacuate the heat you could run both 1000s or 4 x 600s then you’d be rockin’

No. Need the heat here. If i upgrade to the same wattage maybe but likely still need more height.

Exactly, I have 2600w of vented light heat going into my garage 7pm to 7am. Master bedroom is above the garage.
Last winter I ran a 1,800w heater in the garage 24/7, and our bedroom was always cold.
This year I'm dumping heat in it and running no heater. The garage and the bedroom are nice and warm.

Sorry I figured the height issue could be lessened with a much thinner LED, plus you could hang the light closer to the plant. Not to mention people are having great results with them. But hey, man more power to ya if you wanna burn gas lamps!

I thought my answer showed i have considered them already.

Not sure why you have animosity toward light bulbs.

If i exchanged my lamps watt for watt with leds i would need to run a heater during lights on.

What is hard to understand about this?

Nothing. Why the hostility? Just having conversation that’s all. If you are using the heat then that’s awesome. Many folks have too much heat. You prefer gas lights, that’s great! I prefer LED that’s also great! Some folks like pork others like beef. No biggie!
