I usually never go above 800 ppm. 1.4 - 1.6 EC.Good looking ash! What is the highest ppm/ec you typically run?

Lol, too funny. I never smoke a bowl that hard. All the good stuff is vaporized on first toke. I dump bowls after one or two draws with the bottom half still perfectly green. If it isn't green on top, pass.Regarding the myth that unflushed bud produces black ash and harsh bud. I just smoked a little of my unflushed, uncured, fed all the way until harvest bud. The taste is great, nice and smooth. And guess what. White ash. But then I don't dump a dozen bottles of products on my plants. I feed at lower ppm's than most. I never spray "Anything" on my plants during flower. I dry slow and long enough that when I put it in jars there is no chance of mold. People smoke my weed and go "Damn!" that tastes good. But what do I know. I've only been growing for over three decades. Almost five decades if you count vegetables and flowers.
I’ve never heard of anyone doing that before. Seems like a waste to me. But I don’t smoke bowls either I just wrap it in a zigzag white and enjoy.Lol, too funny. I never smoke a bowl that hard. OMG dud i actually think your talking rubbish but good luck with the bro scienceYou measure with a hygrometer put inside sealed mason jar filled with buds. Wait an hour or so for rh to equalize. No comment on your weed, too many variables. In my experience, most people that think flush is important to flavor are not curing at correct moisture content. The fermentation cure is better at breaking down chlorophyll, no doubt. Far smoother smoke than trad cure, but I was speaking to a trad cure.
The first hit is the only one you want. I only take a hit off a joint if I'm lighting it. Your just getting a sub par high taking seconds or over smoking a bowl. Greenies only!I’ve never heard of anyone doing that before. Seems like a waste to me. But I don’t smoke bowls either I just wrap it in a zigzag white and enjoy.
And you have never experienced properly cured weed!OMG dud i actually think your talking rubbish but good luck with the bro science

If you're happy, I'm happy. I go for the purity of the best high and best taste with zero concern for "waste".I smoked it until it burned out. Smoke weed anyway you want. I fill a bowl and smoke it. Just like I smoke a joint until the end.
Ash was still white so now it's because I toked the bowl too hard? I thought it was from not flushing.
Whatever. I'm satisfied and that's all that matters to me.
I'm in soilless hydro. I have a bit of a dry cycle between daily waterings. No matter how dialed in your nutrient is you will still get nutrient salts drying on your substrate because plants won't consume 100% of the nutrient carried in the liquid. Therefore every 2 weeks I hit my plants with my 250 PPM tap water to flush off the build up of old dried salts.Feeding only what the plant really needs almost to the last watering. Tapering up as they peak and then back down as they ripen will give tastier and more potent smoke. And higher yield.
Cant speak to what is in your soil outside but i wouldnt grow in natural soil without testing and ammending if needed first.
I have tested known cuts flushed and fed every which way. I have even stopped buying bloom nutes and use a grow ratio all the way to the end.
I don't know what the chemistry of ash color is.I'm in soilless hydro. I have a bit of a dry cycle between daily waterings. I don't overfeed and like xtsho I run about 800 max in the most vigorous part of flower but I don't starve my plants at the end either. My plants are fed until finish.
@cannabineer you're a chemist can you speak on the color of ash at the end of combustion as a marker for nutrient salts?
That would be interesting to look at ash content via color and do an analysis of content, looking to see if there is a correlation between color and content. My guess is dark ash is wetter weed. But I wouldn't even classify that as a hypothesis.I don't know what the chemistry of ash color is.
I've had black ash and I've had white ash. I never saw a correlation to anything else that mattered, like taste or effect.
It's a function of how stingy you are. White ash means you are smoking to get every pennies worth, damn the consequences to the quality of taste and high.I don't know what the chemistry of ash color is.

Without lab analysis I'd surmise increasing level of combustion black-->whiteThat would be interesting to look at ash content via color and do an analysis of content, looking to see if there is a correlation between color and content. I would be obliged if you can point me to the science of that, with a sound reference to the literature. It's a function of how stingy you are. White ash means you are smoking to get every pennies worth, damn the consequences to the quality of taste and high.
Bing, that is precisely where my mind went, so wetter weed, less combustion. But testing needs done.Without lab analysis I'd surmise increasing level of combustion black-->white

This does not relate to joints. Bowls maybe. It's a function of how stingy you are. White ash means you are smoking to get every pennies worth, damn the consequences to the quality of taste and high.
Temp of bic lighter is aprox. 3500 degrees FI would be obliged if you can point me to the science of that, with a sound reference to the literature.
