Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

Two things:

A friend got his provisional access / "how do you change the ink in this printer again?" letter today. He was at the dispensary 45 minutes later, and they didn't blink an eye about having the letter vs. a card. It was day 87 for him.

Also, this may be of interest to some of the people here who are discussing cannabis laws and driving: Cook County state's attorney said today that she is directing her staff to stop prosecuting most possession cases.

Letter from IDPH worked fine at dispensary (MOCA) no questions. Picked up a sample round to test out certain strains, based on Leafly research.

1g Mag Landrace (indica)
1g Gelato (indica hybrid)
1g Pineapple Express (sativa hybrid)
1g Ghost Train Haze (sativa)
0.5g Purple Punch vape cart (indica)

Tried the Pineapple Express before dinner, and the Purple Punch before bed. The PP was very sedating, highly recommended for help sleeping, don't plan on doing anything productive at least. Pineapple Express was exactly as advertised. I love that I can now customize my experience based on different needs.

To recap, applied online 10/26. Paper "card" received per informed delivery 1/19 (not including postal delivery delay). 85 days. I think I just made the cutoff for those that got a paper letter.

PS letter says it is only valid thru Feb 28 2019. They better get moving printing those cards!

day 98.cards been stuck at secretary of state for 2 weeks for some reason. i moved like 50 times in my life so maybe thats why. each day is agony

DUI stops you have to take the field sobriety test or you lose both licenses. If you take it and fail I think you only lose the driver's license for less time (the 1st offense). I'm not sure if you can request a blood test if you fail (or if you'd want to).

That's from memory, I would consult a lawyer before doing anything (plenty of DUI lawyers have pages on this that can be read for free).

I'm not sure about any county laws.

Starting April 15, 2018 the McHenry County Police Departments of Algonquin, Cary, Harvard, Johnsburg, Lake in the Hills, McHenry, Spring Grove and Woodstock will all be participating in a new “no-refusal” DUI policy. According to a recent press release, police in these jurisdictions will be seeking search warrants for a suspected DUI motorist’s blood if they decline to submit to post-arrest DUI breath testing.

The policy expands the existing electronic warrant system to allow police officers to seek warrants online, at any hour of the day or night.

If signed, the search warrants will authorize the taking of a person’s blood by hospital staff, whether consented to or not. Those who do not comply may face felony obstruction charges. Absolutely Fricking Rediculous, Talk about Invasion of Privacy.

I agree 100%. I even told him that, pointing out who is the licensed person determines which applies, the driver or the passenger. And pointed out if both are licensed the original container that it would have to be in has a sticker with the owner's name on it.
I mainly wanted a cop's take. Sometimes carrying the law printed out will avoid harassment. Looks like it won't for this one.

He did say about the trunk, if you show you're trying to follow the law they'll generally let you off. But I consider him to be a good cop. I've had run ins with some real dicks.

I couldn't imagine charging a driver with possession of something stamped with the licensed passenger's name would stand up in court. Plus it would only be a civil fine for $200 for someone who's not licensed if under 10g (illegal transportation is much worse for a cardholder).



If I knew how I metabolize it I'd almost rather do the blood test than try to tilt my fused neck backwards and stand on one arthritic foot.
What's another vial of blood? I've got 4 coming out next week and trying to get them to take another.

I could not pass a Field Sobriety Test when I am Stone Cold Sober, I have balance and strength issues, and I would tell them that before I ever stepped out of the Car. We have to Legalize and Stop The Nazi's from Taking our Blood.

Wow I was not expecting the ability to grow up to five plants. I thought they would go the Ohio route and build a monopoly and drive up prices.

I was expecting 12 plants to do a small perpetual closet grow with cheap lights. Maybe get a couple ounces per harvest. 5 plants means buying feminized seeds or clones and converting my whole spare room and a lot more electricity. Instead of trying to grow enough for a couple months I'll need to grow enough for 6 months.
And the costly to use CBD varieties are probably completely ruled out.
Figure half of what you're allowed goes to losses whether you're cloning or using regular seeds, one goes to a mother. Realistically we get 2 plants if you don't want to break the law sprouting or cloning twice as many as you're allowed.
With feminized seeds you could probably get 5 most of the time, but every plant from seed is probably going to take longer than budding small clones.

True to the form of "Let's fingerprint and background check sick people" IL is trying to one up the other states, "6 plants is average, let's limit it to 5."
That only makes sense when there's threat from the feds, which is quickly going away, and you don't have to be less than average, just less than the highest.

5 plants will ensure almost everyone will visit dispensaries at least part of the time plus buy overpriced feminized seeds or dispensary clones if transporting live plants is allowed. The good thing about everything from feminized seeds is you could have 5 different varieties (if you could afford 5 packs of seeds). Where cloning your own mother(s) you'd be limited to 1 or 2 varieties for a small grow.

But the authors have been stuck on 5 plants forever so it's probably not going any higher.

I just got through on the phone and applied online nov 6th and they said they still haven't gotten to my name yet so who knows when the hell it'll get approved. I guess i'll continue to buy on the street and take 20 pills a day until I can get medicine specific to my conditions. Pretty sad people have to suffer

I applied 11/5 and I’m approved as of today.

The town hall, they were also saying 5 last year.
It is in the article, "Additionally, Illinois residents would be allowed to grow up to five cannabis plants at their home"
They threw in that homegrowing may end up only being for medical patients, they want it AT LEAST for medical patients. (Which got boos from the crowd.)

Without homegrow it's almost not worth legalization. But homegrow at least for medical patients could sway me.
