Ive been useing led from the start. I have around 10 grows under my belt i decided to try hps 1000w. Big difference in results. Was wondering if someone could tell me if my crop looks good? My tops are way taller than with led is this normal? 20190125_053821.jpg 20190125_053834.jpg im at 3 weeks btw

Sure, looks good. And normal for the height part. They stretch a lot more under hps than with led.
Ok...the difference is just crazy...blowin me away. My root system is 10 times bigger. I hope i pull a good yeald and i hope the buds are tighter. My led gives me airy buds the reason im trying hps

I agree...i cant realy afford the name brand leds.everyone always argues on whats better. Imo they may be better but not worh what they cost. If anything im gonna add a cmh.
they are very worth it... but its a long run thing imo ... replacing bulbs for HIDs and the added electric cost as well as the cost to offset all the heat output from the HIDs... also all those bulbs, once used, have to go somewhere and the chemicals in them then go there also... landfills full of hid light bulbs that I contributed too is NOT where I want to be

i was gonna say WHY would you go back??? some mars led specials?
Nah i was on a tight budget when i first started. When i got my 2 300w units i thought i had 600w but realy only about 300 total...so then i spent the 360$ on the mars 192 it has about 430 actual watts. So i just ran em until diods started going out on the 192 finished out my grow then got a good deal on my 1000w hps and like i said...blown away. But i know there are realy good leds out there but damn expensive

ah gotcha.. yeah the nice LEDs are not cheap.. I am slowly upgrading. from a single 600 Watt HPS it is a process for sure

Because you used the WRONG LEDs my guy.
Yeah, so this is right. The diff between an hps and a cheap led will be massive. But even with a proper led, they will stretch a lot more under the hps. I just started using quantum boards, after using hps for many years, and I was surprised by the difference in vertical growth. The qbs make great buds, just less stretch.

Building your own Cob system isnt too expensive.
I haven't realy done any cob research. I see alot of people talkin about them though.im not very good at workin on small stuff like that. Cant see. Do you have to soder wires and what not? And where do u order your parts from?

You can get solderless joins fo lamp holders, just strip cable to a short length and insert into the hole until it clicks in. I ordered through cutter electronics who had all the main cob gear and made a housing or whatever its called mounting bracket out of timber.

Its important to note that most cob fixtures are wired in series. Cutter cobs advertises on this website and can be found in the LED section helping out people and can make one for you if thats what you want.

Yeah, no! Those look pretty good. Not sure what ur yield was with the led, but you shouldn't expect a huge jump with hps. Some leds will yield more than hps. If the light was meh, then yes. But if not, then gotta be a grower! Some things that really helped me level up are learning how to use ph to optimize nute uptake, when and how to use nutes, relationship between temps and humidity(vpd), lst, mainlining, and other training tech, and ROOTS (but seems like you kinda got this one down) Once you just have enough light, these are the things that will help u maximize!
