zzeroo brings up an interesting point .... I do slurries often and put the soil right back in .. when I do a slurry using RO , wonder if that skews with my soil and roots ? I take it at different spots but still....[/QUOTE

I never really thought to toss the slurry back in, usually the scrapped away topsoil is enough, especially if there is some TOPD hanging around to blend in more volume.......or a little scoop of fresh soil. I move around to different spots too.

I think Im going to start using a cover mulch of some sort to keep the the topsoil from drying out too much. A whole lot of magical stuff happens in the top 3" of soil!! Try to maintain soil moisture evenly, so TopD's become a thriving compost layer. When its bare and goes thru wet-dry cycles, all the life we try so hard to maintain dies then we reinnoculate, then it dries too much again and microbes die off again....just in that top layer though, the rest of the rootball doesnt experience the die off cycles, but when we water in at feed time all the soluble nutes from the dead microbes get brought down into the rootzone where this can be beneficial or too hot depending on feed concentration. So having steady moisture, like a Blumat does, I think the power of the rhizo can really take off and require less feed volume. This is where my mind takes me sometimes.....glad I can bounce this shit off you guys and get it out of my head!!

been reading on TD with mulch or straw to keep the top soil evenly moist ...
A no till LOS grow is not even possible without a compost layer and mulch. A super soil is a little different but can only benefit from it. Our case, would be more like what buildasoil pushes, a LOS, that gets TopD and teas plus the micros & thriveN/Buildabloom drenches. Might even be able to throw a handful of worms in if that topsoil can maintain proper humidity & moisture. I came across a LOS recipe that used peat &compost with 10% Biochar and relys on fungi pathways and worms for aeration, pretty interesting stuff!!

how often do you guys hit your plants with BK and when do you start watering it in?
ME: I start two weeks before I put them in bloom in an attempt to get more of a brush once I hit 18-24 inches no more Foliar also by the first week of bloom im up to 40mil of HH and keeping a ratio of 1to 6 I go up every week hitting them twice a week with BK ....

lol... depends ... sometimes I start at week 4 veg (foliar) and start root drench at week 4 bloom ... some times I don't foliar BK at all... but when I do a foliar , be on a feed day , well be next morning an hour before lights on ....

Same here....all depends on whether I did a good job building up the Cal and have a healthy plant to start BK foliar in VEG....because once I start theres no turning back!! I'm not concerned with getting to high doses, I would rather consistently be putting it in than worrying about whether I make it up to 6-8 tbs of Herc and 15-20 ml BK. The shit is potent and doesn't take much to get the result!! By all means push it, only way to find out what it's capable of.

So earlier in this thread I had said I was going to wait to use NFTG on my current run, but after a lot of reading, I decided to go ahead and start using the basic schedule with my current girls which are mid week four flower now. So far so good! My slurry test was right on 6.4 ph, ppms were about 350... I can't wait to see where this goes. Posting a few pics... Up to this point I'd been using light Fox Farm nutes, like maybe 1/4 to 1/2 strength. Gave them a flush with plain ph'd water at 7 (which is my tap water lucky me) to wash away salts about a week ago... They have had one feeding so far just using the basic 4... Will post progress...

You can see my weird fan leaf there too with the extra fingers... I made another thread about it here somewhere... Things are starting to purple up too which is always exciting...

Nice.....what do you use for microbials? And slurry is perfect, shoulda thrown some Herc in your flush to kick start the Calcium but other than that you should at least get a feel for the line. Do you have Olympus up?

Gotta get Olympus up then get some microbes. Oly is very important, use what you have But try to keep it on the light side, not only a ph adjuster either, loads of calcium!! And ask shop for microbe samples or grab some photosynthesis plus or similar. You can do worm castings too but gotta be high quality.

You can use Fox Farms Big Blooms still, will give your Basic Four nectar a little kick!! Use now to week 6/7ish and start with 10-15 ml per gallon added to Nectar feeds.

Yeah I wondered about that, guy at the local store told me the orange/blue stuff would work ok, but I agree, going to go for the entire product line eventually...

So you got Medusa, Gaiai, Zues & Herc? You know you can go to Oregon's Only website and get a Sample kit to like $30 max!! Has 6 quarts- basic 4 plus Demeters & Athenas, and then 2 little 8 oz. Bottles of BK & Oly up. They usually throw in some microbe samples too. Gotta be the best deal out there!!

extra fingers on fan leaf most likely genetics , slurry is good .. hopefully she does a nice transition from salts to nectar .. you can cultured tea samples off there website , or like others said photo plus or fishes!t ...... I also took notice nectar online store got rid of some stuff for sale , really starting to tighten it up on what they sell ....
