Thank you. What is ppm? I've heard of it a few times. (I forgot to mention this is my first grow! Lol)
Ppm is parts per million. It’s the way we measure and quantify what we are putting into our grow. It also helps when trying to diagnose issues.
Knowing how much nutes is going in helps figure out what you could be missing. I always write down everything I do to my room.
Change light height? Write it down
Change nute strength? Write it down
Notice a sick plant? Write it down.
Temps in the room? Write it down! Lol
By tracking what you are doing to your girls, you can better control your grow and troubleshoot issues.
I always track:
Room temps (and 24hr swings)
Room humidity (and 24hr swings)
Ppm of my res’s
Ph of res’s
Plant appearance (droopy, perky, sickly)
Plant height
Root growth
Res changes (and ppm of each nute I put in)
I find the more detailed of a log, the easier it is to spot issues. But that’s just me you don’t have to go super technical, but it’s nice being able to look back and see how changes affect the grow.
The question is, should I feed the nutes today? They got nutes last feeding, but I'm not seeing any burn. Can I give nutes two feedings in a row?
Maybe do a half strength or quarter strength nute on just the one that’s showing issues. Then resume normal watering. You can always add a little more if you think it’s not enough, it’s hard taking it back out!
Also in respects to when to harvest, I’d suggest doing some reading on here on how to look at the trichs. Get a jewelers loupe and look at the trichs.
I like to harvest when most are cloudy but not amber. Some like to harvest earlier and some later. Depends on what your looking to get out of them.
I find too much amber gives me too much of a sedative affect and too much clear gives me more of a “let’s get stuff done” kinda affect.
This also is heavily strain dependent and all boils down to growers choice.
But definitely look into getting a loupe and reading up on the “when to harvest” ques.
Just my half a cent!
