I have left out steps occasionally in the beginning for instance on the clinical white CBd and the sour diesel I put them in small containers of mixed soil( fox farm potting mix, root Doctor, promix) after they showed roots in root plugs before they went into two gallon pots

Really coming along nicely mate, keep it green...
Thank you old School,

This will be my fourth time growing. And my First time using nutrients actually. Before I just fed my plants the ocean forest soil they were in and roots organic trinity catalyst. I’m now using a complete schedule from a local hydro and organic shop. Still have years to go before I’m anywhere near knowing what I’m doing really, but I think I’m doing alright.

These are in 15 gallon geo pot grow bags with pro mix bx, root Doctor coco, and foxfarm potting mix.The tall plant is a mystery bag seed, some extremely good herb they called ‘bubba kush’. It’s 25 days in flower. I should have topped and trained it more but the bud looks like it will be good. It has five colas. May have defoliated a little too much but I’d say it’s about right. The short and bushy one is 19 days in flower and CFEF382D-C0E5-4D00-88F1-B0522DB114BB.jpeg 0CABCB8C-039F-49E3-9BCD-712BB133505B.jpeg 9B5A5B62-C20C-46B4-8C12-901101A229D1.jpeg DDC3F982-6B7C-4BE9-8FAE-584290AA693D.jpeg (appears similar height to the other because it’s raised up) has ten colas and is a OG Kush CBD by dinafem seeds started from seed. I did a better job of topping this plant. Expecting good bud also and higher yield than bubba for sure because I’ve also defoliated this one less.

With the cool hood you should be able to get the light a little closer no?

It’s a 600 w hps and I think the lowest part of the canopy is about 17 inches away and about like 12 inches away from the highest point on the far left. Not sure if it can or not it’s my first time using this light. If I moved it down lower the far left cola might not get light.

Take a look at how close my 600 is to the far left, I'm in a 4×4

The general rule of thumb is 2' for 1000w and 18" for 600w but I find the older the plants get the closer you can get the light, by the last week of flower I'll have some colas reaching to within 8" of the bulb.

Sorry now I do see what you're saying the far left cola may lose light, I guess that's a benefit of having an open light. Sorry dude I dont mean to intrude on your grow I'll stop now.

No by all means I want to have as much questions/feedback/approval/criticism/etc as anyone is willing to give. Much appreciated that you checked in with your observation on the distance. I would move it closer if that far left cola wasn’t so damn beastly. I’ve considered bending/training/supercropping my tops down on that plant but I’m afraid how it will work out and am just going to let it be. I need to get some sticks/stakes for support in time for my next grow, hopefully these don’t fall over when they fatten up...or maybe I do hope they fall over lol. Always hoping for a bigger yield rather than smaller. While this is all fun for me and I do it because I love it I take this stuff very seriously and I’m trying to constantly build my knowledge. Feel free to come as you are and tell me anything you feel like saying.

Ok good to know, I will tell you that by the end of er I do have plenty of colas that are not receiving the light they should be, I'm sure this does have an affect on said colas but they still grow big and dense so really we're talking a few grams each as long as the majority of the plant is receiving light they will still yield big, that being said I myself would move the light closer even if the top 3 or 4 nodes of that far left cola are left in the dark, that's just me.

And yes you do want all the colas to fall over I've never had a crop where the tops didn't fall over from their own weight, I just tie string to the ceiling bars to support them, no matter how many fans you have goin the buds should be too heavy to support. It is making me seriously consider scrog where that wouldn't be an issue.

The only way I can imagine being able to drain off runoff out of runoff dishes is with a shop vac though. Once the plants are in then scrog they can’t come out really it seems to me.

That is true, once they're set it's not practical to move the plants, but I have 6 plants at a time in each 4×4 and i just let the runoff dry on the floor, then in between grows i wash the floor matt with spray nine, have never had a mildew issue.

I have always kind of thought about not collecting the runoff and just letting it sit in the tent floor. I also walk through there too so I wouldn’t want to stand in water. I typically give my 15 gallon grow bags 5 gallons of nutrients about once a week or when they feel light. I get about 10-40% runoff. I have a dehumidifier in the tent too so that helps when there’s excess moisture.

Another issue with leaving runoff though is leaving the roots prone to root rot if they’re too submerged in liquid. About to go lower my light I think

I wouldn't do that.

I like the bucket in a bucket setup. You can let the top bucket drain into the bottom bucket (several 3/8" holes in the bottom), then chain those bottom buckets to a floor drain using grommets barbed fittings and some hose.
