Jack's 3-2-1 question

Hi, I'm making the switch to Jack's for my 12 hempy buckets and am planning to order the 5-12-26.

Is anybody else here using the 3-2-1 with success?

I'm actually ordering the calcium nitrate on Amazon because it's cheaper. That means I just have to pay $55 for the 25lb back of 5-12-26 and I'll be ready to start. I'm currently experiencing magnesium deficiencies with another line of fertilizer growing in coco. Really frustrating experience with coco so far. I'm hoping the Jack's will clear up the issue.

The Jacks should have plenty of magnesium but you can always buy a bag of epsom salt at the drugstore for a couple bucks if needed. Add the calcium nitrate and you should be good to go. That's basically what I use in coco. Not Jacks but a similar product. Plants do great. No need to waste money on bottles with fancy labels that are mostly water.

The "General Hydroponic growing with 2 part" section on the bottom shows what the ppm's for each element in Jacks.

That's a very cool page you linked to. I love how Jack's puts such a wealth of information on their website about their product. Kinda the complete opposite of cannabis specific marketed nutrients. I'm so close to being done with plastic bottles. Super freaking excited :)

Do you use any kelp, humic acid, or silica? I've heard all 3 are great additions, but I'm no hydro pro so I'm not sure.

But asking if you use any kelp humic or silica defeats the purpose of being an all in one.... check out megacrop threads and website before buying jacks that’s my 2cents

I use VitaGrow. Nothing else but occasionally magnesium sulfate or potassium sulphate. It's pretty much like Jacks except the MKP is puled out so you can adjust it to your needs. It's three part. Calcium nitrate, micronutrient blend, and monopotassium phosphate.

Jack's is awesome I would stay away from megacrop unless you have a problem mixing 3 things. I also use coco make sure your roots fill out the pots before you start flowering and use full strength 321 every day
Can you post some pics? Stay away from mc?? Why would you tell him that.. anyone can mix more than 3 things together before mega I was mixing 7-8 so what are you saying? I can show you pics of some greatness to back up
The mc.. and I just started to use them so not sure why your hating on mc?

You just started to use them? Have you finished a run with megacrop yet? Not sure why you would back something you haven't actually tested. I don't like how megacrop smells and their recommend feeding wasn't even close

Where did you buy the Jacks part A for $55 a bag?

Select the 25LB bag instead of the 1 kilo bag and the total is $55.00. I paid $15.93 for JR Peters to ship it to my doorstep.
My invoice breakdown is:

5-12-26 Part A
SKU: #2-79030
Choose Your Size: 25 lb bag
1 × $55.00

Items $55.00
Shipping $15.93
Total $70.93

Jack's is all you need. No additives necessary, because Jack's is a complete professional fertilizer. If I were going to use an additive, I would use the usual items. Kelp, humic acid, and a touch of molasses. General Hydroponics sells a product called floralicous plus that contains all 3 of those items in a highly concentrated liquid. Easy to add and cheap. You can also source kelp meal, humic acid granules, and good old fashioned unsulphured molasses. I personally prefer a ready to go single product which makes my mixing much easier. NPK industries sells raw soluble concentrates also.

I've been using Jacks indoor this winter, but will need more for the outdoor grow this spring.

I’ve used both megacrop and jacks for multiple runs. MC does smell like crap but it works, good smell flavor and burn... MC is nicer for the one part mix, but I still prefer jacks. Jacks keeps my reservoir cleaner longer and I get a better calyx to leaf ratio because of the ability to tailor the solution as needed

Exactly my point Jacks is much cleaner and it's cheaper I don't understand what's so hard about mixing 3 things using the same exact ratio every time it's takes and extra 2 min and you pretty much never have to clean your rez. Megacrop might work equally good but it does not work better and it's slightly more expensive to me Jack's in a no brainier.

I recently switched from using GH for years to mixing salts and briefly touched base with 321, but further research and chatting with another more experienced grower here on RIU, I learned that 321 was lacking in a lot of ways. Through much more extensive research, I learned how to tailor my mixes to isolate different elemental PPM by getting a few more products and using Hydro Buddy to input desired PPM targets and what products I have on hand, and the app would tell me how much of each I'd need. I also briefly used a fluvic/humic/kelp mix, but this gave me grief in a few ways so I stopped using it. Don't get me wrong, my plants responded well to it, but the grief was in maintaining my reservoirs, so that's why I stopped it. I made a nice thread that explains how to use Hydro Buddy and which salts I use, plus desired levels per stages of growth, but I haven't updated that thread in a while so I'll screen shot my most recent feed chart to wet your beak.

Also, I ditched Jack's because of their anti-discrete shipping packaging that screams "Jack's Nutrients". Like WTF??? I now use Peter's Pro 5-11-26 which is just as easy to mix with and has all the same stuff except a lil less Mg and S. If you're in the states, use Custom Hydro, they have everything you need to mix more precise regimens. Here's their link;

I also discontinued Biomin Calcium. It wasn't available to the roots as I originally believed and the result was my res had less available Ca, and I was getting deficiencies when I shouldn't have. Now, all I use is the 7 things listed in my feed chart above.

When you learn hydro buddy, you can research other products before you buy them and together with my notes left on the 420 thread, you can see that Megacrop's recipe aint great as a stand alone. I also ran the numbers for tomato blend (Chem gro) and that was difficult to work with, but having the ability to test products before you buy them is a blessing in and of itself. I was able to reverse engineer GH too, AN is a pain in the nuts to rev engineer due to their secrecy of what they list on their bottles, but pretty much every other brand you can do and compare.

My aim as a grower is to have absolutely no def or tox at all. Believe it or not, Jacks/JR Peter's micros aren't that great and using STEM helps, but still is far from ideal, but I think I found a happy medium with the above charts. So far I've had good results with OG Kush, great results with Triple Cheese and am now dialing in Pineapple Chunk. They're all P whores, but some like more N and Ca than others and am still feeling out the PC. If I want to raise or lower any of the macros or secondaries, I can.

Note: High sulfur content results in super sweet smelling bud and super sweet tasting smoke. No matter where you take this, try to keep high levels of S. GH was around 30-35PPM with the Flora Nectars, but I more than doubled that and may still go higher.

Getting ready to switch to jacks. Ive read and seen alot of great things abt it. For me the price is beyond attractive compared to the lines im using currently as well as previously. The only question i have is in regards to mixing as this will be my first time going with dry nutrients. Seems to be a bit of debate abt the proper way to mix. Im looking for some suggestions from growers who use the jacks 321 formula. Thanks in advance!

In Jack's literature, they suggest Jack's 3.6g/Gal, CalNit 2.4g/Gal and Epsom at 1.1g/Gal. When crunching the numbers, it produces a hot mix comparable to regular lines of nutes. Most canna growers abbreviated that to an even 3 grams, 2 grams and 1 gram. I find this still to be a bit hot, but it has perfect micro numbers. On top of these 3 components, I also use a supplemental micro mix, a silica product, an additional source for N and Mag and an added source of P and K. But everything begins with Jacks, Cal Nit, and Epsom salt.

In the above example of 321 (bottom left) P is too low and Mg is too high. K is also pushing toxic levels. If using plain 321, be watchful for these 3 potential problems in your grow, but you should be fine as those levels aren't severely out of range and should only cause minimal loss of growth performance.
